Not necessarily. That extra time allows another 500 trllion neutrinos the opportunity to pass through and potentially alter the bits before the change has a chance to take effect. Of course that won’t happen, but it could. That five seconds was precisely derived and calibrated with computational tools, the kind used by Caltech high-energy physicists and NASA engineers.I am not a superstitious person … period. My reasoning is that if five seconds are good … then ten seconds are twice as good! Right?
