🫵🤘🙏

The thing I try to set is to have zero noise while playing but to not have the weird frequency when you palm mute a note, and it is not possible yet. You are obliged to set up the ratio high to be noise free, but while doing this, you have the « robotic artefact » when you palm mute. So I decide to let the noise run to not have it, I set the ratio to the point you have no noise while not playing only, but yeah the noise still there 🤷. It is better than before I think. Cleaning a high gain signal, having the whole sustain at the same time and having no noise in the end of the note… Maybe it’s impossible .

The new 6160 are great, the drive knob seems to act better than before in them .

The new shred in the input boost gives you an instant chuggy tone with whatever head , funny 😊
Weird , no artifacts for me using modern expander, Like i put 10 gain 5153 red or any high gain amp whatsoever.

While it can affect dynamics to some extent . Its without any artefacts. It even handles fas skull crusher with ease.

Med soft knee setting.
Input gate off, modern expander is first in the chain.
Its superb for modern metal where riffs involve chugs and scale runs/ licks
Even the unwanted string noise is gone unless you intend to play badly
That being said im still on beta 2 21.02 .

That Bosom boost is friggin amazing!
Pairs nicely with the PVH 6160 Block Crunch modal
I can go from stoner rock to modern metal in one knob (tight) 🤘

Oh have not experimented much with it. but it was certainly better than earlier the couple of times i tried it.

We’re all waiting for axe edit . XD
Axe-Edit III 1.12.13 provides support for Axe-Fx III firmware 21.02 public beta 3

Mr Pickens dropped it yesterday. The wait is over :)

In the end you know what ? f*** the gate .
I’ve done hundreds of gigs with a stack at 5 without any gate pedals just using my volume knob, so yeah f*** that shit. I’ll set it with a ratio at 2, just to remove some noise when I don’t play, but for the rest you cannot really hear it in a mix or band. Feedbacks and noises is rock n roll, right? Who cares . Let’s get drunk and play fast punk, and throwing the guitar in the cab like I use to do when I was younger 🤣. Rock n roll !

Absolutely. My Slayer playing is certainly better a little 'tipsy' More authentic :) And what's with all this 'quiet stages' and 'IEM's' hoodoo? And don't get me started on 'synched to timecode controlling patch changes and visuals' ? And whats all this about.................... hang on.....................

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS OCCURRING

Damn, I just realised, I'm getting old.

I’m getting zero noise now and I didn’t even touch settings on my gate block on my preset/presets.

Using a Kiesel with their Polarity active pickups. (Which are absolutely insanely hot in output)

I think if you move away from your pc and use a tiny bit less gain, that noise could go away with moderate gate settings.
Yeah I don't think this is noise created by amp gain or anything to do with the Axe Fx. I have similar noise when I'm too close to a computer or laptop. Move 2 feet in the other direction or face a different direction and BOOM, no more noise.

I don't use any gates at all for any tones whatsoever and have very minimal noise while playing even the heaviest of chugga chugga tones. At least none that is audible enough to create issues. The noise floor is low enough that when you get a mix going or are even playing anything by yourself, there is nothing that is audibly offensive. Of course using gates for staccato djent-y stuff is a diferent thing.

Exactly . The more it goes, the more I rediscover life when I listen to old records where the tone was dirty, where there was feedback and noise. Without it it’s sterile. And yeah silent stage particulary in bar and small stage suck. When you are in front of the band, you only hear the drums as the guitars are on the PA. Most of the time the guitars are eaten when they play through modelers. Back in the days, when you go to see a band with cranked stacks on stage it immediately make you move, it was loud, it was rock n roll. Now the public is not caught by the sound, they don’t move anymore, watching a band without amps is …talking about small places hm, underground stuff. When you see a band in a big place that’s not a problem.

Last time I listen back to the first soulfly album for example. That sound . Nothing to compare with sterile modern production . I love technology too, but sometimes you rediscover life when you go back . That’s why i don’t like nowadays bands globally . They play good but this is not rock n roll. i listen to 60’s to 90’s band most of the time . After 2000 it s hard to find good records . Don’t care if I am old. To me that’s the same difference than watching porn or being with your girlfriend. Metal and rock n roll is all about energy, speed, aggression normally, perfection is not a feeling. When you do angry music it should be rough somewhere, because sadness, angriness it’s not « a line ». Same for singers, same for everything. Sometimes a guy can be out of tune, but he lived his music so you are touched . All the errors make things human .
