There's an auto-update happening when you load a preset created on an old firmware.

This, combined with the prompt-on-edit setting is hurting you.

Go to the Setup menu. Select Global Settings and on the first page, Config, scroll down until you see Prompt on Edited Preset Change and set that to OFF and you won't have this issue any more.
makes sense, thanks! the flashing screen does appear to be a bug though

Thanks. It would be great if there was a way to quantify "better." What sounds better one day may not be the next The only true test is a blinded comparison under controlled conditions. There is also confirmation bias. That fact that Fractal announces an update with "improvements" means you're going to be immediately biased to hear something different. If Cliff put out the same "improved" announcement with no changes to the code, I guarantee many on this forum will say it sounds so much better, when he changed nothing. Our brains play tricks on us. Here is an example of what I mean:

I use this example all the time. You wouldn't believe how many people - even experts - get fooled. As soon as you get some information (price, brand, looks,...) your brain will use it and you will be influenced. The proof was there in the video when they did the test with the crappy McIntosh amp.

Question: I’m on FW 21.00 beta 1

With the Vox and Fender amps was the speaker drive changed? Say I had it set at 2, do I need to double the value to 4? I know something changed but I can’t remember where I read it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks

Hi all,
I'm a bit confused.
I installed beta7.
And in the first post of this tread I read this:
Added “Plate Suppressor Diodes” parameter. This value is set automatically when the amp model is chosen but the user can override the default setting. Most amps do not have suppressor diodes but some do (e.g., Trainwreck Express). These diodes (also called “snubber” or “flyback” diodes) prevent undershoot on the power tube plates due to inductive kick and reduce upper harmonics thereby reducing “fizz”.
But when I create a preset with a Wrecker Express, I can see the "plate supper. diodes" field but I am unable to select the actual diodes.
Probably a user error. thank you for your help.

That's a weird one........on and off shows up for me in that field for the Wrecker Express. Are you running the latest Axe-Edit?

Just tried out Beta 7. In hindsight, the biggest change I was hearing in Beta 4 was the speaker distortion being halved. Beta 7 is closer to what I had dialed in with 20, in a good way. Can’t make a good direct comparison between 20 and Beta 7 since I made adjustments to amp settings in Beta 4 and used that as a starting point. Sounds good though!
