I want to hook up my Ultra digitally to my Apogee Rosetta A/D converters (which goes to a Digi 002r to run Pro Tools)
I run SPDIF between the Digi 002r and Rosetta, and cant change that
I want to run the AES connection, but since there is only an AES Out on the Ultra, i need what the AxeFX manual calls a "commonly available AES to SPDIF adaptor cable"
well i live in Los Angeles, in Burbank no less (tons of studios, suppliers, audio/video stores, etc) and im basically reading and being told that there is no such thing.
there are converter boxes that convert AES to SPDIF, and they are $150-200
the company Lynx makes something that looked like it would work but i called them and they said it probably wouldnt since it was designed for one of their pieces of gear
i emailed fractal support last week... no answer. so, i re-sent the msg this morning, and got a reply within 10 min... it was a single line answer saying "The Rosetta has SPDIF In and Out. Just use that. Much easier."
uh yea, no shit man, im familiar with my equipment... CMON... dont tell people to use a "commonly available" anything when it doesnt even exist!
it ANYONE running SPDIF to AES??
