Any thoughts about a NEW AxeFX on the horizon?

I'm talking AxeFX 2.0.
After being through all the modelers multiple times, I know what I believe to be the absolute BEST modeler (for me).
In short, the GSP1101 with AxeFX quality amp/poweramp/cab simulations/FX and third party IR support paired with a Control 2 like floorboard connected via Cat5.
Possibly a "dumbed down" AxeFX version, cheaper overall with less comprehensive tweaking options, only the major core amp / cab sims, maybe a smaller subset of available FX that are on the standard.
That would be my dream modeler. How about you?
That being said, any noise about AxeFX 2.0?

floorboard connected via Cat5.
UGH !!! my experience with cat-5 and floorboards is not good! Cat-5 might work in the studio, bedroom or an environment where relatively few connects/disconnects occur, but they were never designed/intended for multiple connects/disconnects on a regular basis (like gigging).
The jacks, cables and sockets get sloppy/slack over time.. and soon you start to get shorted pins and funky stuff happens....
Personally, I'd pass on any cat-5 connected floorboard...

An LFO controlled peanut butter dispenser would be nice.

I think that Cliff had something in the works based solely on a thread from about 5 months ago with a sentence about trying out the newer, cheaper SHARC processors. Basically they're cheaper for a reason is what I came away with from the thread. So if he was to use them on a future product I would suspect it to be a scaled down version.

Pure speculation on my part though and he may have just been checking out stuff for the sake of checking it out.

before the Axe I played a Vox Valvetronix head and controlled it with the Vox VC-12 foor controller. While it was awesome in many acpects and the build quality was outstanding, I soon broke one of the cat-5 plugs, to be exact the little plastic piece that locks the plug to the jack.
after that it was duct tape, duct tape and duct tape...

so, yes, you are absolutely right.

Cliff has mentioned that there is more advanced (better?) modelling that he has come up with, but the current hardware doesn't have the horsepower to support it. AFAIK, there still isn't a more powerful DSP chip than the TigerSHARC. Considering that (I'm sure) he has coded specifically for the SHARC chipset to extract as much performance as possible out of it, I would guess that a new flagship AxeFx model will depend on Analog Devices coming out with a more powerful chip.

See that's the kind of crap that you need to tell me about so I can fix it for you. I could have got you back up and running like new in no time.

with one of those?

I still need to fix the cable, since I'll be selling the Vox, the controller and the cabinet on ebay soon.

and, thank you. :)
