Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR - UPDATED 7/27/09

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

Sorry it has been set as private a few minute after.
Probably not the right time for tom.

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

I have a question on the Atomic 2X12 about the following statement I pulled out of the online .pdf manual:

"If you use a multi-effect device or just plain old stomp machines, they can be connected using the normal Send and Return Jacks of the Atomic Amp. Using the red push-button you can switch the Effect-Loop from mono to stereo. Check your Modeler manual for information about controlling the output level."

So does this mean that if I push the red button on the Atomic 2X12 to switch the effect loop to stereo that my Ultra will come out in stereo? Or would I have to have two Atomic 2X12's to get a stereo signal? Just wondering if it's possible for example to get delays to ping-pong from the left speaker to the right speaker using (1) Atomic 2X12 amp.

Thanks!

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

Tom, any plans to offer just the 6L6 tube power amp on it's own, in rackmount form? Sounds like it would make a great power amp for the traditional guitar cab crowd.

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

... and is it any plan to sell an UPGRADE KIT including a tweeter, for the former 112 50? I was thinking to modify my own 112 myself but the job will be better if the hardware comes directly from Atomic... ;)
Thx for the answer to come.

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

Gawd, this post is long.

I was wondering if there are any news about availability date and prices to be xpected in Europe?

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

BTW people...

Raezer's Edge makes a full-range speaker cabinet with a tweeter over the dust cap, which sounds to me to be very similar to what the Atomic FR combo cabinet will be using.

It's called the Stealth 12ER.

http://www.raezers-edge.com/p_stealth12_er.htm

The tweeter can be dialed out if you want the sound of a guitar speaker.
I've heard them before and they sound quite nice, but I've yet to run the AFX through one.

As you can see, it's quite expensive. About the same price (or more) as what the entire Atomic FR will probably cost. But hook it up to a decent tube power amp and you might have a sound that is very similar to the Atomic offering.

The driver is made by Eminence I believe, but I don't have the model number.
It may be made espesially for RE and might not be available to the general public.

My guess is that Atomic is simply putting one of these drivers (or sim) into their already existing 1X12 combo amp shells along their already existing tube power amp, but I could be wrong.

This assumption is NOT correct.

It's isn't a secret that the cab for the Reactor FR prototype we showed at the LA Amp show (and to some others privately) consists of our proprietary 12" driver, a custom designed, high quality crossover network and a special tweeter to compliment the tuned/ported cabinet.

The power section is a modified version of the one we currently use in our 50w amps.

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

Try not to let it burn through quite yet ;) .

We're working hard to get it to market ASAP. I'm going to stay away from giving a specific timeline at the moment but I should have better info to share by the end of January if not sooner.

The one thing I will say is that no-one wants the Reactor FR to be available more than we do! Thanks for hanging in there.

OK. Fair enough then.
Thanks for the info.

But for folks who are interested in trying put something of their own together, I'd just like to point out the Beyma coaxial line:

(This is probably the driver used in the Raezer's Edge Stealth 12ER, but I'm not sure.)

Etc.

Re: Announcement: Atomic Reactor FR

And I'm still trying to find out what types of inputs and EQ the Reaqctor FR will have.
I've not seen this mentioned in any of Tom's posts. Did I miss something?

Can it handle ac guitar and synth guitar at the same time as the AFX w/o needing an external mixer?

+1 on that I would love to have that available. Right now I am using the Axe FX Loop to run the guitar synth without a mixer.
