This!!! I've been waiting for this on my FM3 for so long!! Will this feature be available in the FM3 any time soon? Thanks again to the FAS team for another home run of a product!!!
 
The AM4 can take a lot just like VP4. It's really no concern :) as cliff said on another forum "The processor in the AM4 is faster than the VP4."

Not even comparable. For the price of an AM4 you could get a massive TWO different UA amp models, with ZERO extra fx blocks, no loop, no scenes, no channels, no digital I/O, limited MIDI integration...not a great argument, and that's not even touching on all the free firmware updates FAS offer.

While I can understand being confused or frustrated that a new product doesn't do exactly what you want it to do, it doesn't mean a company is trying to fleece their customers. There's always going to be a compromise between hardware capabilities, features and price.

The Axe-Fx III can run two instances of the Multitap Delay while the VP4 can run FOUR, does that mean the Axe-Fx III isn't viable?

There's an amp/cab block and a different selection of fx, with different I/O. You can run 4 simultaneous blocks with 4 channels each and arrange presets into 4 scenes (like the VP4). The FM3 allows you to run more simultaneous blocks and has the same footswitching layout architecture as the Axe-Fx/FM9 (layouts) so they're different beasts in that regard.

It's more of a VP4 with a AMP/CAB block if you want. However you can use AM4 as 4 effect blocks too. Also, however not all VP4 effects are in AM4.

The idea is you put your pre effects before the unit and your post effects (should you need any) in the insert. The outputs of the AM4 are balanced and designed to be sent directly to FOH and/or monitors.

If you just put your post effects after the unit you would then need a DI to go to FOH.

This is worded way better than I was able to say it, and I really tried. Adding this to the manual now on p.22 :-)
