“Missing” Marshalls?

Why aren’t there models for the JCM900 and JCM2000?

IIRC the JCM900 is basically an 800 with a diode clipper to increase gain to make it more metal and I honestly know nothing about the 2000, other than it always sounded kinda weak on recordings that used it (not very scientific, I know).

Are these amps just undesirable or is there another reason?

Just surprised given the wide assortment of Marshalls we already have.
 
Interesting - I’ve never even noticed that there weren’t any … but I’ve never looked, because of all the higher gain/hotrodded amps that have been based on the plexi and JCM800, the Marshall 900s and 2000s would always be my last choice IRL. There are so many great high gain options already I doubt too many players are missing them.
 
Some JCM900 models had more Opamp stages than tube stages. Quite a departure from their earlier legendary amps.

I liked the original JCM2000 DSL100 and 50 heads. Good clean channel and classic Marshall drive tones. They were close contenders back when I bought my old Boogie Mark IV. The Vintage Modern was a pretty good sounding amp too.

Huge fan of the DSL. It would be a great addition. One of the last tube amps I still own.
 
SL-X 100 would be nice to have in the arsenal.
It had its own thing going on.
With that extra 12ax7 in the preamp, it could go from classic rock, to mid-90s crunch.
 
The Vintage Modern is an oft overlooked Marshall Gem that I’d LOVE to see in the Fractal family. I can definitely say I was completely shocked when I got mine & it’s become one of my absolute favorite Marshall’s ever. Though irs a reimagining of what a JTM45 Lineage might have produced, it’s definitely got its own thing going on. It’s become one of my “Nope, I won’t sell it” amps. Here it is in action.

In all seriousness probably because as you said the JCM 900 has SS clipping and not a tube.

Seems like it’s just a big distortion pedal with tube power amps

Alot of j-rock players seem to use it though so it would be nice to have

Speaking of J-Rock players.....you can't mention them without mentioning the Triamp MKII. That amp was basically Japan's JCM2000--you still see those amps in rehearsal room backlines. It was omnipresent. Anthem, SexMachineguns, etc. I'd LOVE to see FAS get their hands on one and model that bad boy
