FFFR tweaking at home vs in a band and live: The do's

might be cool if they could implement a "smart/dynamic" filter that auto-compensates for the FME and psychoacoustic phenomena that exists between bedroom and stage volumes that you could then dial in however much percentage you like. Then we wouldn't have to worry too much about it. Just dial in...

Accidentally found a PERFECT AX8/AXEFXII amp (unconventional but it works)

I have a Katana 100 head that I have tried running through a few 1x12 cabs. Sounds fine just using it by itself. Did try it as the poweramp for the AX8, in a similar way as with the TVP, but I really didn't care for the setup. There was something harsh and somewhat lacking in the oompf. Anyway...

Thanks very much for building this utility! Is there a way to convert presets in batches? I can't seem to find a way to do this. If I drag more than one preset onto the main window, it just opens them up as a "bank"... Help?

Q2.01 - Only had a little time to fiddle with it last night. Noticed the clean/low-gain preset I built (based on a Fremen preset) has a "snappier", "crisper" top end. Had to bring the high frequencies down a little to tame it, but it does bring some extra clarity which helps (I think). Thanks...

I think I may need to do this as well. Things sounded very very good with v19 betas. After I updated to v19 official, with nothing changed, the amp modeling tones were much harsher and lacked girth/punch. I'll do a reset tonight per Cliff's recommendation and try again.

Due to some other recent developments, I had to cancel my Latte order - for now. I did grab a QSC GX5 stereo poweramp though - running the AxeFX II through it, into some small guitar cabs. Turned off cab modeling (for now), and it still sounds great.

Based on the release notes, I believe you can see the "(g3)" indication on the amp module's "pre" tab/page. I hadn't played with the Atomica much ever... but it does sound nice! From the release notes and other comments in the thread, I think some of the new FW18 magic still affects amp models...

For those having issues, don't be too troubled. Remember that this is only beta. We get to be beta testers (and find bugs/issues/tonal anomalies). The final release will likely be even better (!), with reported/unreported bugs worked out - and probably amps tweaked to be even more delicious.

Is Steve Vai the best ambassador for Fractal Audio Systems ?

+1 for Satch. Regardless of the musicianship, the fact that musicians such as Vai and others speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of FAS products. Those guys can't afford to have gear that doesn't hold up nor sound great, night after night. No doubt the Axe FX units will outlast...

V.10 Musings

For me, the v10.02 update made it super easy to dial in pretty much anything I'm looking for without much fuss at all. I love that! Pick an amp, a quick tweak to taste, pick one of the recommended cabs - done! The thing I'm loving the most are those "tween tones". You know, the mid-gain tones...

+1. I just spent two hours and couldn't get through all the new stuff. I kept stopping on this or that amp and... wow. Incredible stuff. I usually HATE Mesa Recto style amps... I LOVE these. The ODS Clean is soooo nice. Gets cranky and really punchy when u push it. Very nice.

Adam - making sure I follow your quick comparison... You liked the original Atomic Reactor 112-50 better than the Atomic FR, correct? Any other specifics as to why (other than what you noted that you didn't like in the FR)? Please let me know.

Well... now I've gone and done it...

Got good results through the Atomic by cutting 31hz and 63hz by -6dB. Also set tweeter at 50%. Sounds good.
