Wet signal via AES, Dry signal Output 1?

Thanks for the response! It works just fine. I just like the idea of having complete control over the dry signal's gain or being able to send that signal to a preamp, etc. I sometimes also like to slightly clip the dry signal to get a unique tone when it comes to post-process distortion.

Wet signal via AES, Dry signal Output 1?

Hello all :D Quick question here hoping someone can help me along the way... I'm trying, well, actually succeeding but with a workaround in which I'm not quite sure is the correct or only method? My routing is as follows : AES spits the dry signal, OUTPUT 1 spits out the wet signal. What...

    Re-amping roadblock!

I FINALLY figured it out and wanted to report back here to say I fixed the 'issue' and I'm glad I read your reply! I wasn't exactly sure that it was the correct method, I just found it worked and you provided me with that confirmation :) Thank you! Side note : is there any way to use the same...

    Re-amping roadblock!

Hello, folks! I'm in a major rut & I'm really hoping someone here can help! I wanna hear my re-amps in context with each other in realtime. Think heavy metal guitars, where both guitar tracks are panned hard left & right. I'd like to hear them in stereo instead of one mono/centered track. I'm...

Recording DI and wet signal through SPDIF possible?

Not to ignore your question but why not just record the dry take via SPDIF & the wet track via the Axe OUT to interface IN?

Output 1 as dry signal (reamping)

So, I've been using the reamping method as described in the Sticky Thread. I was wondering if there is any way to get Output 1 to be the dry signal instead of the Digital Out?

Axe-Fx 2 XL+ Compatibility with Amp Sim Software?

Have you even tried at least learning Axe-Edit or the Axe module itself? I find it completely baffling, considering its cost & especially the level of quality, how you would even entertain the idea of abandoning the Axe-Fx for an amp sim like Amplitube, or any other software amp sim for that...

    S/PDIF problem

At this point, I'm certain my interface just isn't capable of receiving S/PDIF input when set to Internal, making the recording process of the re-amped track basically impossible. However, when the interface is the slave, the Axe is audible & records with no problem ; one row of the wet signal...

    S/PDIF problem

I tried them all, the signal is still dry and not being processed. EDIT : so, I unplugged my monitor cables from the audio interface and put them into the Axe and it works but why is that? And when I try to record the re-amped signal, none of the assigned inputs pick up the sound...

    S/PDIF problem

Okay, my audio interface is set as the master instead & is at 48000. I'm outputting the dry signal into the Axe, which seems to be picking up because of the active input LED's but the signal is still dry and not being processed? MAIN INPUT SOURCE : SPDIF/AES WORD CLOCK : SPDIF/AES IN USB/DIGI...

    S/PDIF problem

I'm trying to re-amp but when I change the the Axe's MAIN INPUT SOURCE to SPDIF/AES, the software for my audio interface says "Clock Rate Mismatch" and automatically drops sample rate from 48000 to 44100, and of course, the Axe says "NO INPUT CLOCK!" My cables are 75 ohms, & the Axe is set as...

Do you record in mono or stereo?

So, since playing with & recording the Axe in my DAW, I've noticed that while playing/monitoring, the recorded take would sound like a fraction of what I'd hear when monitoring. Well — obviously that was because I've been recording in mono, yet, upon playing back a recorded stereo track, it's...

Thanks man! Ordered me a pair of S/PDIF cables today and I will let you know how it goes

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

I see. So when you're panning, I'm assuming you're doing that via Axe-Edit just to get the separation. Now when you're monitoring from your DAW, is it literally dry track (left speaker), wet track (right speaker) or are they both (mono) centered? That's the part I need to understand as I...

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

No need to apologize, sir! I may just do the analog out to interface in, just seems very straight forward. Only thing I'm worried about is how it will probably color its sound. It's an old interface so we'll see.
  19. MisterCrayle

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Is there any reason for panning them hard L/R? If you hadn't panned them, would they be typical mono (centered) tracks?

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

"Unfortunately (despite many requests from users), ASIO still doesn't officially support multiple devices, so if you have several completely different models of interface with ASIO drivers, while all will appear in the list of available devices, you can only choose one at a time." You need an...

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Appreciate your help. However, I've already downloaded the drivers, etc. and have already used the Axe via USB & as an interface with zero problems so that's not an issue. I use Presonus Studio One & my computer is nothing outta the ordinary. I am VERY curious to know how you apparently have...

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

How would I do that? And with my monitors hooked up to my interface, how would I hear the Axe given that it isn't connected to my interface or any sort of monitoring? My DAW, and I'm sure any other DAW, only lets you use one soundcard at a time. Assuming you missed my previous post, I do not...

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Appreciate that, so are you able to record a dry + wet signal simultaneously with only S/PDIF using the Axe's input? If so, can you please explain just the way you did in your previous post?

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Nice. Are you able to do this without having to switch audio devices in your DAW?

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Interesting. Gonna have to give that a try, too. I'd assume that has to vary depending on which interface one has. Mines is a 10+ year old M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R so I'm not gonna get too excited hah! Quick question — using the S/PDIF method, are you still able to use the Axe's DI or you...

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

I really don't wanna turn on the Axe just to listen to music, on top of the hassle of having to constantly change audio devices in my DAW. & the main one, running lots of plugins & Superior Drummer 3, or just doing big projects in general, the Axe doesn't seem to enjoy it hah.

Anyone using S/PDIF I/O with a cheap interface?

Is there is any difference regarding sound quality? i.e., using just the Axe as an interface versus going S/PDIF I/O to a fairly cheap interface. I was told that I would have to have 'a real high end interface for the same quality of conversion your Axe FX offers'. Just wondering how true...

    Axe CPU idling at 70%?

I see, thanks. One more thing, I'm trying to install the new presets but I'm prompted with a warning that if I do so, I will be overwriting the current presets. It's specifically the "All Banks" .sys file. I just overwrite them all, correct?

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

You're absolutely correct. One last newbie question — Even with Axe set & recording as slave, the interface's converters are still being bypassed because the Axe has already converted the analog signal to digital, right?
  32. MisterCrayle

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

Appreciate that :) So even with Axe set as the slave, you're still able to track/record it via S/PDIF, correct?
  33. MisterCrayle

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

Perhaps I'm just totally under the wrong impression of what I think is happening. I assume that by using S/PDIF, my interface is merely used as a slave device, which then has no influence on sound quality anymore, hence the bypassing of its converters? I could very well be wrong on that. What...

lol, just curious....how many times have you re-read your post before you decided it wasn't grammatically impactful enough so you chose to edit it a few times haha!? Jokes aside, I just want to bypass my interface's converters. It's crap. Another would be I don't want to have to turn the Axe...

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

I'm confused, can you be a little more specific? I do not want to use the USB on the Axe. I want my interface to be the means of connectivity and use the Axe as basically a preamp. According to previous posts, S/PDIF connection will bypass the interface's converters, which is what I am trying to...

  39. MisterCrayle

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

I 100% want the ability to reamp. However, I am not using the Axe-Fx as an audio interface. I want to use S/PDIF as a means to connect to my interface & not use its (interface) converters. You can do that, right? Instead of outting the Axe to the interface's standard input, use S/PDIF instead...

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

Thanks. So when you say It’s capable of sending only stereo digital PCM uncompressed audio, does that mean you cannot record mono tracks? So, for example, in my case, inputs 7 & 8 on my interface are somehow tied to S/PDIF as well. Going DI into my interface, I'd typically use input 1 to...

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

Truly appreciate the input guys but that still doesn't help me understand what S/PDIF actually is or what it's for haha! I do know it's a type of digital connection and that's about it. The idea of bypassing my interface's converters are exactly what I want to do whilst still using its USB...
