Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 9.01 Beta

Wow! This update sounds really, really good. Absolutely floored with how good it sounds FRFR. I’m sure this is probably something to do with the design of the amp, but I have to crank the speaker compression control all the way up in order to get about -2.8db of speaker compression on the...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.02 Public Beta

How about a 'time until meltdown' control for class A amps, so you we are able to dial in how exactly how close the amp sounds to its inevitable destruction and hold it there. Perhaps we could also have a seperate control to adjust the amount of fire coming out of the transformer...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.02 Public Beta

My biggest criticism of the axefx (I've been here since 2012/13 somewhere around FW6) was that things never felt very 'joined together' or maybe that each stage of an amplifier didn't seem to interact with each other stage in the way that a real rig would. I felt that I had to do a lot of...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

I notice I get a hair more gain/compression with1.04 than with 1.05 and the preamp hardness set to 6. I'll try again but I've already gone between 1.04 and 1.05 twice.
  7. tommyco10

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

I've gone between 1.04 and 1.05 a couple of times now, adjusting preamp hardness... Fas Modern just feels different in 1.04. It is effortless to play and feels like it has more responsive gain. The midrange sit further back as a result of the dynamic differences. I'll check out the next...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

It was a simple question for Cliff, to ascertain if I should bother updating to 1.05 as I really didn't like what 1.03 did to the sound of one of my favourite amps, but I DID like the changes to it in 1.04. There was a bit of confusion as to the nature of what 1.05 actually is, so I thought I'd...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

Well, Cliff said 1.05 was more like 1.03 and reading (possibly misreading) his posts on the first couple of pages makes it look this way. I'd just like to clarify as Fas Modern which I use quite a lot sounded way better in 1.04 than it did in 1.03 to my ears .
  12. tommyco10

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

So... Has the new tube saturation model from 1.04 has been completely abandoned in 1.05?
  13. tommyco10

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.05 Firmware Release

Hmmm. I really liked the new saturation model in1.04, I thought it really helped tighten up the FAS Modern amp which I thought went a bit flubby and fizzy with 1.03. Has this new saturation model from 1.04, been abandoned in 1.05?
  14. tommyco10

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.04 Firmware Release

Awesome. Of my two go to amps, Fas Modern sounded a bit fuzzy/flubby with Q1.03 yet the pvh6160II sounded much more controlled and defined. Fas Modern is back to its usual lean and mean self with Q1.04 and pvh6160II is still benefitting from the recent changes made in 1.03. Thanks Cliff...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.03 Firmware Release

Awesome, thanks for including the rhythm channel on the 5150mkII. I never thought there was much call for this as most people on here seem to prefer the lead channel. In my opinion, the rhythm channel is the best bit of the 5150II, which has been my go to amp for a long time. The low mids are...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

I'll give my review of Q1.00 in simple descriptive layman's terms as at this stage, what matters most is the sound that comes out of the amp, rather than me speculating on precisely what new discoveries and improvements cliff has made from a technical point of view, and I completely understand...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.00 Public Beta

Honestly I've had the opposite experience of quantum. I've had to do much, much less to my signal chain to get something that works in a mix. I did notice some IRs that I liked to use with certain amps in previous firmwares weren't really doing it for me any more. Apart from removing a...

So, I've reloaded the FW and started from a blank preset to make sure there aren't any gremlins being carried over. I still can't get the hi/low resonance parameters and slope parameter in the amp block to function at all. The sag and xformer match also don't do anything. I've tried this on the...
