So I was just messing around with the dirty shirley 1 & 2 amp models and just happen to notice that the presence doesn't do anything. Can anyone else confirm that this is a bug? I'm on FW 22. This happens building a preset from scratch as well.

I get what you are saying. I'd like to hear the difference between the same amps as well. If it was an old marshall comparison I'd say the differences could be extreme, but more modern amps (without changing tubes) shouldn't be night and day.

Comparing the Mark V to the Axe IV should be the same differences you have with the JP2C real amp vs models. There are differences for sure especially doing pinch harmonics, getting the mids, bass just right without losing something. You can get overall tone close BUT the real amp is more easy...

I personally like the tension on these guitars compared to Ibanez. Meaning if you riff heavy on the Low E it will feel tight and not bounce around like most Ibanez, unless you go to a heavier gauge. But I have a heavier hand as well. Good luck! And come back with your thoughts.

One thing I noticed about this fw is everything updated except the speaker page. So if you want the latest tweaks I'd suggest selecting another impedance curve then load in your previous as these have changed. That's if you want the latest and greatest.

Take the "Big Hair" model. The harmonics on that thing are crazy good. Now take the mark series and try to do the same thing. Yes completely different amps components etc, BUT the real mesa has those same harmonics if not more. If you don't have the amp, try one and you'll see what I'm talking...

Each amp model in the axe is different. Yes some models the harmonics are there and easy while others are a bit buried for lack of better word. The Mesa mark amps are very mid focused amps so no I'm differently not scooping them, at least how I dial it.

Yeah I realize that but it actually sounds closer than the other USA models for whatever reason. I will deep dive again. They all sound good not even a question there. Tone wise? Yup. It's the pitch harmonics that are the missing link. That is why I meantioned the recto tonestack sounding closer.

Correct, they use locking tuners. Craziest part is the only string that goes out is that B string that wasn't pulled through all the way.

Dumb moments you've had with the Axe?

How about having two delays in parallel and making tweaks to one only to find out the one you're adjusting is turned off.

Wish Wish List: New Amps

Cliff told me a long time ago this is just a Marshall JCM 800 with an added gain stage. Hmmmm. I'd still like to have it modeled but considering some amps that been requested many many times (ada mp1) and years later still haven't been added which others on the short list have. It's safe to say...

Petrucci Rig Patch

I have to agree with wanting the 5 band eq to sound like the real deal. We're suppose to be trying to mimic the real amp, why not do it right. As someone else already stated I'd love to keep the eq we have now as "ideal" 5 band eq.

This statement has me confused as to why have reference amps if you're not trying to tweak them to sound like the real amp? And how can an amp model be considered "spot on" when you're using ideal values? If your using schematics, taking measurements, adding values intended by the designer...

This is pretty much what I was getting at. Thanks. I'm all for presets of others trying to emulate a model of (insert name). My whole thing I guess is it's seems we're getting presets now (which again is fine) instead of modeling the actual unit itself.

I see there is a small change in the two. Like panning. Again just seems like presets and not modeling the actual unit in question.

Left is Delay "TYPES" ....Right is Library. Either it's a modeled delay TYPE or it's again a preset of someone trying to emulating another delay unit. IF it's a preset then I'm fine with it being in the library. But it's labeled under TYPES as well. So if it's modeling ( as an example) UDstomp...
