    Not a Bug Dirty shirley

So I was just messing around with the dirty shirley 1 & 2 amp models and just happen to notice that the presence doesn't do anything. Can anyone else confirm that this is a bug? I'm on FW 22. This happens building a preset from scratch as well.

One expensive guitar or several inexpensive ones?

Buy whatever you like and can afford. I've owned cheap and now I own a boutique guitar. Never ever EVER would I have imagine buying a guitar over 2k. It all comes down to what you want. Price tag doesn't always translate to "the best." I had an ibanez RG 3ex1 with emgs that sounded good and...

Wish (partly implemented) Mesa boogie mark V

I get what you are saying. I'd like to hear the difference between the same amps as well. If it was an old marshall comparison I'd say the differences could be extreme, but more modern amps (without changing tubes) shouldn't be night and day.

Wish (partly implemented) Mesa boogie mark V

You asked if he could record using both amps OR use the same ir with a load box to see what the mark iv in the axefx is missing. That's why I replied what I did. I would be curious to hear the differences between the JP amp and mark V real amps.

    NGD Sterling Majesty

Congrats! Glad you like it! Not sure how you feel about stainless steel frets, but man since I got my majesty I want those on all my guitars! And the crunchlab and liquidfire are nice pickups. Good choice!

Wish (partly implemented) Mesa boogie mark V

Comparing the Mark V to the Axe IV should be the same differences you have with the JP2C real amp vs models. There are differences for sure especially doing pinch harmonics, getting the mids, bass just right without losing something. You can get overall tone close BUT the real amp is more easy...

    Sterling Musicman JP150, thoughts

I personally like the tension on these guitars compared to Ibanez. Meaning if you riff heavy on the Low E it will feel tight and not bounce around like most Ibanez, unless you go to a heavier gauge. But I have a heavier hand as well. Good luck! And come back with your thoughts.

I haven't player either guitar you asked about but I do have similar. I've got the Sterling JP100D, and the newest Majesty. I've mostly played on Ibanez RG's myself. The guitars you listed are close in specs, aside from the wood of the neck, weight, shape on body. So it depends on what you're...

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

No. We are talking about pitch harmonics.
  22. Heavyplayer

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

Take the "Big Hair" model. The harmonics on that thing are crazy good. Now take the mark series and try to do the same thing. Yes completely different amps components etc, BUT the real mesa has those same harmonics if not more. If you don't have the amp, try one and you'll see what I'm talking...
  23. Heavyplayer

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

Each amp model in the axe is different. Yes some models the harmonics are there and easy while others are a bit buried for lack of better word. The Mesa mark amps are very mid focused amps so no I'm differently not scooping them, at least how I dial it.
  24. Heavyplayer

    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00

Yeah I realize that but it actually sounds closer than the other USA models for whatever reason. I will deep dive again. They all sound good not even a question there. Tone wise? Yup. It's the pitch harmonics that are the missing link. That is why I meantioned the recto tonestack sounding closer.

So I've only tested the USA IIC++ against my real mesa mark v and I have to say Cliff whatever magic pills you take to come up with this stuff is truly insane. EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

So just an update. I still need to do a few minor tweaks but it plays and stays in tune way better! Turns out even though you might not hear the "pling" noise, take the time to pull up on the strings like Andy has stated. Do this up by the nut. That's how I found out my B string was hanging. I...
  30. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

At this point it has to be the nut as I've checked out everything I can think of. And sadly the tech who set this up is stumped and doesn't have a clue what it could be, he didn't even mention the nut. I guess if you can't put a string on right..... Guess I should've went with my gut and set it...

  33. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Well shit this doesn't sound to promising. Yeah the ball on the string went in as it should with no issues. This guitar will stay in tune without the tremolo. Once I put the arm on its over.
  34. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Hmm. This is a brand new guitar. And the second one they've sent me. How old is your guitar and have you always had this issue?
  35. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Yeah I'm still battling that fucking B string right now. Yesterday when I got home I had to change the high e string because it broke so I went ahead and replaced the B string as well. While I was at it the tremolo plate wasn't flush with the body of the guitar so I aligned that up right. This...
  36. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Yeah everything leads to the B string and being it wasn't seated properly but was set-up as is. I just have to figure out how much of an issue that one string is going to cause me.
  37. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Solid advice thanks! I believe I've zoned in on the issue is the B string as it seems pretty stable tuning wise with that being the exception. The action, neck relief, intonation (will double check B string again) and tremolo all feel and looked correct, to my preference. When I get home today I...

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

My next step is getting some nut sauce and putting a bit behind the strings in the nut, as well as on the tremolo knives and will try a bit on the saddles. If this doesn't do it ..... This is what worries and pisses me off. I normally set-up my own guitars but I let the tech do it. A guitar this badass and has tuning stability issues?! Have you tried "nut sauce" on the nuts and saddles? I've been reading a lot about that. Hate to call it a wrap with this guitar.
  40. Heavyplayer

    EBMM Majesty owners/ guitar tech

Correct, they use locking tuners. Craziest part is the only string that goes out is that B string that wasn't pulled through all the way.

Nope, didn't mess with that part at all. I'm sure the B string wasn't stretched properly. working on that yet.

It could've been had you read everything I stated, and how I compared the amps/models. Instead you just comment with a mindset of me bashing the Axe, with beating a dead horse statement, and using in a live environment. None of which I've done.

This is pretty much what I was getting at. Thanks. I'm all for presets of others trying to emulate a model of (insert name). My whole thing I guess is it's seems we're getting presets now (which again is fine) instead of modeling the actual unit itself.
