Can Axe FX 3 output 1 XLR tolerate phantom power

Although I feel it is obvious, just to be clear there were two questions asked: 1. Can I plug output 1 XLR into a mixer that has global phantom power feeding all the XLR lines? 2. Will this damage my AXE FX?

Yes - MIDI over USB (for firmware and patch updates via Fractal-Bot will work and is supported by Fractal - minimum OS is Leopard - 10.5.7 for MIDI-over-USB.

Like me, you'll need to record using the analog outputs on the back of the Axe FX II to inputs on your recording interface (mbox2?). This will work fine in PT9. What will not work is direct audio recording from the Axe FX II over a USB cable..

Changes in factory preset list from older versions?

Use Fractal Bot to backup your existing v4.x banks to your computer, then load the new v10.x banks. You can always go back to v4 if you want. You can also get any version of firmware and default presets from http://axefx.fr. Note tho if you've tweaked things a lot you might have some work to...

perl script to print out preset names from .syx file

Figured out a way to remove MIDI-OX as the middleman and grab a preset list directly from a .syx file on Win or Mac. Also preset numbers start at zero, not one. Send me a message if interested for the updated script. :)

DAW and OS upgrading worth the money?

I have read PT11 is going to AAX plugins and abandoning RTAS.. So for example if you have purchased the instrument expansion pack, you'll need a version 2.0. (not sure how much at this point). It requires an iLok2 as well correct? So $500+ish for the upgrade from PT9 Is anyone using audio...

I use Pro Tools 9 which is not supported on Mountain Lion. It appears to be supported on Lion (although again, I have a bunch of readmes to go through). And the audio over USB minimum requirement for the Axe FX II is Lion.

I just called Apple Canada and I can purchase Lion ( 10.7.4 ) for $19.99 by contacting them directly. This is an option but I'll have to doublecheck that all the PT stuff will still work. I wish I knew more people on Lion to get a warm and fuzzy feeling for it....
