youre right, i was confused by the fact that its in the amp block not the cab block. shouldnt this choice be made in the cab block where the cab is chosen instead of the amp block?

In case it helps someone else, I think I found the problem: If AxeEdit is open while transferring via the Mini Utility, it corrupts the files. AxeEdit must be closed and it seems to work fine.

while they are certainly not bad, compare to an apogee, lynx aurora, or better. . . axefx converters are fine, but not on the level of the aforementioned. but then it would be ridiculous to assume that they would be.

i couldnt disagree more. the kemper does better with one sound, but the afx is much more versatile and tweakable. i have both, so im not biased -- each has its strengths. the kemper does have a little more in the authenticity department, but at the expense of not being able to extensively...

so it internally oversamples and then downsamples to output at 48k? if so, it doesnt seem like much of a stretch to have the output able to be run at higher sampling rates via AES to solve problems for those of us who record at higher rates. play one, you might change that score to 1-1...

the VirusTI2 keyboard connects via USB and has a VST plugin that both controls the keyboard and passes audio over USB in the host directly. one connection, USB, through the plugin, does everything. remote control, multiple ins and outs, whole deal. . . simply and easily.

absolutely, i actually have several great pre's that have the split already built in. its more for the reamping part so that i can just use the axefx as a digital insert (via AES) for fidelity (no extra conversion roundtrips), lower latency, and convenience.

name a device made in the past 5 years other than the axefx with an AES IO that is only capable of 48khz operation. i think that should be a safe assumption.

perhaps that someone might see this and have found a workaround for the situation that they would care to share. . . which is a bit more than you can hope to accomplish by playing "internet daddy" and offering the obvious and previously stated solution.

15 day return policy. and if i would have thought about an AES output being stuck at 48khz, which is ridiculous, then i would have known to search for just that now wouldnt i?

actually, i found that they sounded better at lower resolutions due to the jitter introduced at higher rates -- tighter image. how about the presonus firepod? it does 96k for just a few hundred bucks and no one has complained about the sound of the first periphery album.

very good points. my main problem is that i want to record dry (for editing) and then effectively reamp through the afx. doing so digitally without all the extra conversion would sound better (even if marginally so), be easier, and yield less latency if i wanted to track the dry signal while...

if ideal is 64k, even consumer level devices run up to 96k, why not go ahead with 96k? 48k seems a poor choice given that statement, ya know? i mean, its a $2500 device, m-audio delta's can run at 96k.
