My dream rig is now complete

I was playing covers in the 80’s when most of these songs were first released….40 odd years later and they STILL make up a lot of cover bands main song list. Not sure if it means those songs were exceptionally good, or that contemporary music is exceptionally bad…🤔

Tuner Bug w/FW12.03 & MFC v2

Noticed this doing the first shows using FW 12.03. My tuner is set to mute when in use. Starts like this: Say I'm on Bank 1-Preset 3, I press tuner on the MFC to mute & tune, that works fine, I press tuner again to un-mute and I'm back in Bank 1-Preset 3….so far all good. But if I do it...

AxeCabManager - Now available in native Mac OS X as well...

No joy here. ACM installed ok, does fire up but Axe Midi selections are reversed, and Connect & Refresh do nothing, can't d&d a .Syx file either. Setup: OSX 10.8.4 iMac i7 3.4GHz, 16GB ram, SSD + HDD. AxeFX II with FW11b.

External switches

I've got 4 x Boss FS-5U non-latching foot switches that sit below my MFC that I use for Scenes 1 to 4. Means I don't have to sacrifice any IA's on the MFC for scenes. Works really well.

Adam A7X or Yamaha HS80m?

The Adams are another level above the Yamahas. More accurate and more pleasant to listen to for extended periods. The HS series are more in line with the Fostex PM series both in price and performance. FWIW, I work in music retail and have never had a customer pick the HS80s over the A7Xs when...

Umm, actually no. The midi OUT/THRU on the Axe does indeed power a midi gooseneck light, I've got one. (Doesn't work on the midi IN.) The one I use is the ALVA MGL-1 - ALVA: Midi Gooseneck Light It's nice & short, works like a charm.

I consider these my "no brainer" switches. The two FS-5U's are momentary switches set to 'spot' FX like Flanger or Ring Modulator. The two FS-5L's are latching, at the moment one is Rotary on/off and the other is Rotary speed slow/fast. Being at the front of the board, and they're easier to hit...

Temp controller

Just got a temporary foot controller setup together until the Australian Fractal distributor gets some MFC's back in stock. (Still a couple of months away apparently). Will add a couple of Boss FS-5U's to be able to bank up & down, as well as a couple of Boss FS-5L's to act as IA buttons.

I think some of it boils down to luck of the draw as to how quiet the stock fan is coming from FA, some of you are getting quiet ones that don't annoy you, unfortunately I didn't! If I was only using the Ultra for rehearsals & gigs then I wouldn't worry about it at all. In the studio however...
