Axe-FX II Template Tip for "newbies"

A lot of new Axe II owners ask questions about how to lay out their patches on the grid. Using a template is a great way to gain some consistency in your grid across multiple patches. Here is a template example that I use for most of my patches. Obviously, your grid may be different...IE...

Tip for those getting strange compression/attack upgrading to 8

When my Axe went down last week I was on 6.02...haven't had a gig break so I could upgrade. When I got it back yesterday I used my 6.02 backup bank and then upgraded to 8.01a. Some patches (Fender Twin) had a very strange overly compressed attack. Upon checking the amp block I noticed that the...

How to use the "Magic 8-Ball" in the tuner.

The "Magic 8-Ball" is an innovative tool designed for precision tuning. NOTE: You are NOT required to use the "Magic 8-Ball". You can continue to use the grid and arrows alone and achieve excellent results.*The "Magic 8-Ball" is designed to give you strobe tuner type accuracy and can be very...

    Discovering the SYNTH Block

Never really paid much attention to the SYNTH Block...started fiddling around with it this week...getting a really nice lead synth tone out of it. Will come in handy on mellower shows with fusiony instrumentals!

Bug? Momentary switch requires 2 taps to work when initially going to a preset.

I had FINALLY gotten this to work SOMEHOW about a year ago. Now here is the same problem again after updating the MFC/Axe II. I have an external momentary switch setup to bypass/unbypass a delay block. I have the switch type as MOMENTARY under SETUP and as TOGGLE under MIDI, and yet when first...

Have tried with blank preset, my own presets, factory presets...same problem. 1. amp block followed by Tone Match block 2. set Tone Match block input to USB, REF to LEFT 3. Capture reference 4. Capture local 5. Hit ENTER and process resulting sound is phasey/flangey bad...out of phase...

LIVE AT 11 - COMPRESSION CONUNDRUM!!!

OK, I'm probably fighting physics here, but I'd like to see if any of the fine tone gurus here have any ideas? 1. I LOVE using my guitar volume knob to get various tones by taking a heavier signal and cleaning it up in various stages for various tones. (a la Ty Tabor perhaps?) 2. I LOVE...

    Weird phasing?

I admittedly just messed around with the tone match for a half hour or so, but every time I hit "enter" to process the tone match the resulting tone had a weird phasing sound to it, almost like it was out of phase? Guess I'll have to spend some more time when I get back from the road...anyone...

    Global EQ presets

Maybe this should be in the "Wishlist" thread? I would love to have the ability to use presets with the Global EQ. My studio tweaked patches are always a little muddy live through my FRFR cabs. You could also save presets for various venues. Also it would be really great to have a button to push...

Question for Cliff (or anyone that knows) about word clock sync through Axe II AES

Cliff, is it possible to run out of my word clock (Black Lion Audio) into the AES "in" of the Axe II to sync the Axe with my MOTU HD192 which is also running off of the Black Lion word clock? I've never used a unit that didn't have a dedicated word clock "in" and I'm wondering if the Axe and...

If you're using EMG SA's with the Fender sims...

Just curious where you're setting your input trim in the amp block, specifically on the Fender Twin? People always think EMG's are really hot, but they aren't. I had my amp input trim at 1.000, but have since kicked it up a bit (around 2.000)...what is anyone else doing?

HOLD tap tempo randomly doesn't turn on tuner

Great right out of the box.

Axe II came today...plugged in and ran through the first 20 or so presets...really great. Not sure how someone could play through those first few presets and not get a great tone? Also noticed how little amp noise/hum there is...really pleased with that. The fan doesn't sound noticeably...

Really like the RJ45 for controlling MFC
