Compression to raise volume?

Well you describe exactly what I am doing.. I just didn't realize a compressor brings the volume up. Makes a lot of since tho I was wondering how it was working fairly well. My patch is very unforgiving but I'm ok with that :) forces me to play better. and at JasonE.. I really don't feel like...

Compression to raise volume?

Because I need notes to sustain for a long time.... or when needed very short staccato like gating... the only way to achieve this (that i know of) is placing a gate first to block what you don't want in the signal. Then after it placing a compressor or something to boost the volume up if it...

So I am wanting to increase the volume of my signal if it goes lower than a set threshold... how do I do this? I know I can use the compression to decrease the volume if it goes to high... but.. I'm trying to do this so my gate (after the comp or whatever) doesn't close on a note I'm trying to...

I know how to physically djent and i have a better djent tone than a lot of people but i still want to push it even further... but trust me its the tone not my playing perhaps the pickups will change a lot tho.. i dunno. the recto new has way to much fizz for me i play with almost no added...

How to get that bite in your tone..

I'm on an Agile maple neck 8 string with a 28.625 scale... meaning my scale length is longer than tosin's here the rg2228 is a 27.5 I believe. Also my gauges are 9-12-15-22-30-40-54-72 (la bella hrs crazy eights). Pickups are the agile stock Cepheus pups. They sound good as far as I can tell...

so my front input broke after 2 months!!!!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED!! so i opened it up and i notice that the input was completely disconnected from the motherboard... which is interesting to me. it wasnt the part of the wire that connected to the input.. it was the part on the motherboard that wasnt connected.. this makes me think that it wasnt...

Reactor FR Mono Block in rack form...

perhaps this is a stupid question... but why is there not a Reactor FR Mono Block in a mountable rack version... it seems to me that it would make more since to have it in a rack form... right now im using a carvin 1540L as my power amp but its almost too transparent.. i would like to get more...

thanks again muris! im looking around for some now ill post them when i can narrow it down but for my DAW specs cubase 5.1 window 7 x64 bit 3ghz core 2 quad core 4 gb ddr2 ram 2 TB hhd (total space) oh then of course the axe fx ultra and my guitar which is 8 string tuned to F# standard...

thanks for the responds! one thing that i seem to be confused with is some AI's have preamps or even multiple preamps?... eh why would it need a preamp it cant have the same means as say a axefx ultra preamp..? and why would it need multiple preamps? super noob i know.

Help with recording...

So i am very new to recording... i have decided to pickup cubase 5.1 but am still looking at others. for recording guitar im not sure exactly what i should do.. i assume my signal line should be like this guitar - axefx ultra - patch - axefx output 1 - (some sort of mixer or AI.. sound card?)...
