WALKTHROUGH: Dialing in amps on the Axe-Fx

OK, but as I go CW and increase damping, the volume also increases. As you know, more damping = more feedback = less gain = less volume. So I guess what I'm hearing is the volume compensation that Cliff included in the damp parameter. BTW, great job Yek!

WALKTHROUGH: Dialing in amps on the Axe-Fx

#23- damp... IIRC, higher values (CW) result in less damping, at least that's what I hear. Like going CW is increasing the value of the feedback resistor. But zero (fully CCW) disconnects the feedback loop for no damping at all. Cliff?

    What's up with damp?

Thanks Cliff! Yeah it's hard to tell if depth is doing anything, so it's probably disabled.

    What's up with damp?

Having fun with this one! 2 Das Metal amps in parallel. #1 with bass, depth and damp off (bass is flubby with no feedback). #2 normal, initially with mids and high/presence off, adjust output level until bass sounds right in the mix. Then adjust mids & highs on both amps for various mixes. Tight...

    What's up with damp?

So I turned up presence all the way, and was playing with the damp parameter to see what effect it had on the presence range. I put damp to zero and... woah! It got louder, very bright and RAW. Cool tone! It is not mentioned in the manual or wiki manual, but searching here revealed that putting...

Hi-gain FRFR "amp in the room" fix

Haha, yes it's true, I never used it and had to look it up in the manual. The funniest part is that I chose by ear the same low pass frequency that Cliff stated in the manual! So essentially my use of the PEQ is the Air parameter, but with a lot more tweakability. Great!

Hi-gain FRFR "amp in the room" fix

Axe-fx -> Yam DSR115. For high gain, I have been struggling to get at least some semblance of an "in the room" 4x12 sound. Went through a million IRs and no matter what, the sound isn't "right there". The highs always sound weird to me, and the midrange seems off in the distance. It doesn't...

    Axe-Fx is not flat?

"Set the INPUT SOURCE to ANALOG FRONT when using the front-panel input. This input is conditioned to provide optimum noise performance for use with an electric guitar. Set the INPUT SOURCE to ANALOG REAR when using the rear-panel input. This input is a generic line-level input and works with any...

    10.02 - holy cow tone.......

I'm no expert, and have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express only once, but after reading the OP's post several hundred times, I have come to the conclusion that his last firmware was 7.18.

The Mesa Mark series EQ once again...

This would be easier if we could disable the preamps, and yes I know it can't be done. But it would be nice to have a couple of generic amp models where, at the default settings, the preamp is completely transparent. Then you could use it as a power amp only model without risk of anyone cracking...

Tried my Axe-Fx through a cab for the first time.

Here's another way to cable it: Guitar --> Axe-Fx front input Left output 2 --> Mesa guitar input Mesa send --> Left input 2 Left output 1 --> Mesa return This will let you use your actual Mesa preamp as well as Axe-Fx amps.
