Axe-Fx II Firmware Version 12.04 Public Beta

Thank you Cliff, as always; Amazing updates; On high gain I will note I cant hear a thing different between tube classes, Im guessing the subtleties are mainly on clean high MV models?

tonights original schedule:
- practice the live set
- carry on working on the session job I have in the studio

tonights actual schedule:
- aahhhh 12.04b, better quickly pop that in
- HOLYFK ! ! !
- practice the live set
- loved playing so much practiced the live set again
- played for fun and played some of the set again
- kinda late starting my session job [thanks FAS… lmao]

seriously… this is just un-fkn-believeable..
the VH4ch3 just got the shot in the arm it's been needing.. that 'magic' the real one has that the Axe was missing is there now..
and the difference between the VH4 and the Herbert seems much more pronounced now [in feel and tone]
and just as I remember them too, with the Herbert being smoother and the VH4 more aggressive and focused
5153Red just sings and sings and sings
JCM800 set with the tiniest of rasp is a total funk monster, then kick in a pile of dB at the input and it's rocking and a rollin but with spectacular dynamic control..

now all the low end has tightened up I reckon I'm going to start liking some amps that I previously shied away from
trouble is… I got to work.. got to get this session done…
jeez… where is someone else's horny wife when ya need her…

in summary…

phenomenal ! !

Holy freaking moly! I can't believe how good this sounds AND feels now! Sitting here jamming for hours with FRFR two CLR's in stereo and am blown away with how organic? (not sure how to describe) my patches sounds now. Using a Vibrato Verb for clean (w/ Zen Drive to spice), and another scene HBE for leads, and it ALL sounds freaking amazing! I'd swear a tube amp was in the room(sorry - i know it will be controversial, but i feel it).. Everything sounds better now with the amp changes.. I mean my rotary sounds better, Univibe.., Zen drive etc..

Thanks Fractal! - the gift that KEEPS giving, and raising the bar!

I posted this in another thread but felt it more appropriate here! I have to say, I'm really impressed with the new update! Fractal took a huge step in the right direction and appreciate their dedication to their product! One reason I've stayed with them for the last few years. With these new improvements, I'm finally able to open up high the gain amps in this box... HBE sounds really good! Fractal has always nailed low to medium gain... Now it's time to unleash the beasts!!!

Hey

ARGH.... Very nice to hear ,that new firmware sounds so amazing! But my case is hard because ,I want so much try that firmware. But I have still little bit traumatic feelings ,update my firmware. My overall tone was chance so much ,in that 12.03 firmware. Im still in 12.01 ,and I have some paranoid feelings about updates. Very sad I must say ,would be so nice to try that amazing new firmware!

You can try it with little to no risk. Backup your presets, load the new firmware, try it out. If you don't like it, load 12.01 & your freshly backed up presets & you are right back where you were.

Well said!!!! I have a feeling there will be no turning back!

I came close a couple of times but that was many firmwares ago. Lately they have all been so good I don't hesitate at all, even with a beta!

This is great news. Has anyone actually tried a blind test or a 'double blind' test, in order to confirm their findings and improve the accuracy of their feedback for FAS? Such a test could be arranged by re-amping one direct track to two prints - one pre 12.04 and one post. Have a friend rename the files randomly (A and B, or B and A, on flip of a coin). Then play one file then the next, not knowing if you are listening to A or B. See how well you can tell which HW version is the new FW and which isn't, and how you can tell. Then, and only then have your friend reveal which is which.
I am in no way doubting the reports - but it would be great to confirm them beyond the shadow of any possible placebo effects. I can't wait to get my Axe II.

Holy Shit Balls Dos!

Been sitting here playing around with the new firmware with MV and LF Res. Ive been on a FTR 37 and MAZ 38 kick lately. Turning up the gain doesn't get nearly as farty as before and turning up the LF Res gives me a growl I feel in my chest without going farty. I'm not sure how it is possible, but I think this firmware is better than the last. Seriously, how is this possible???

Great job Cliff and the rest of FAS! Without question one of the best products I have ever purchased.

Is LF Res in the AMP block , SPEAKER Tab ?
Thx

Folks -

Have years of Marshalls fried my hearing?

I ask because I can detect no real change when altering the power tube type in the 12.04 BETA. I looked and see that Axe-EDIT is in fact sending MIDI traffic to the AXE_FX II, but I hear no difference and see no visual indication of a parameter change in the AMP | ADV page of the front panel.

If you ARE hearing a difference, could you please let me know what amp and tubes you are shuffling?

Thanks!
