FM9 Firmware Version 11.0

Did it fix them
A successive beta release usually fixes the logic that caused the incorrect preset value, but does usually not correct the wrong values already written in presets with the previous beta version. That is kind of the risk and purpose of beta testing. If you want to have a solid upgrade path, revert back to the stable 10 (restore the backup) and upgrade to the stable 11 release.

I actually did have an issue just now where I was getting no sounds out of the analog outputs again immediately after turning the unit on. I WAS getting sound out of the SPDIF out though and it was crackly. A reboot fixed it. All the block levels looked good (no red blocks in the layout either) while it was happening and the output meters were all moving normally. Just no output.

Release 11 issue: Output 1 sound stops working. Seems to be random. Out of nowhere, the sound will just mute. Reboot fixes it. Makes me think I could never trust this device in a live environment. This has happened on virtually every time I have played the FM9 during several hours of use.

I am still waiting on an answer on how the wrongly set tube hardness values are handled by the 11.0 public release. Did it fix them or do I need to go through them and manually reset. I upgraded to 11 beta 1, which changed some of the values to be out of range. I believe the team said the public 11 release would reset all amps to the correct values, but I never got final confirmation of that and didn't see it in the release notes. Yours is the first Plexi I've heard of it affecting. Most have been Vox types.
The official 11 did not fix this. Fractal has said it will fix on next release (11.01 maybe). I use the Matchless DC-30 for most of my presets and had to manually reselect the EF86 tubes for value to go back to default 7.40 (from 2.something). Loading the backup and/or previously exported individual presets did not update the tube hardness values either. Don't know about other amps...

I'll see if i can reproduce that. I usually have them the other way around (fm9 is clock source).
I did the same thing when I only had one S/PDIF cable going from my FM9 to 16i16, but I changed the clock source to my interface when I got a second cable. My reasoning being: my 16i16 is always on whereas my FM9 isn't, and ideally, I never need to change clock source this way.

Installed a couple days after release and I have since recorded via SPDIF and USB, used Outs 1 and 2 for playing into a board and FRFR and no issues at all. Super smooth over here!

One of my presets based on the Deliverance Low seems a bit drier than before, and another using Bassman/Mark IV/VH4 is truer to at least the real Mark IV R2 and Lead I own. Good things all around and not noticing any negative effects of sound, functionality, or otherwise.

I avoided the betas this time so perhaps that's part of it. Totally a happy camper

I don't really understand what you are getting at. I am just reporting my own experience (which is not isolated) so that I can get the help I need.

If your aim is to be helpful, then thank you. IF it isn't, then that's something you got to figure out.
My point is that the current firmware worked before the reboot, so the firmware version is probably not the culprit. I’m just reporting what I see based on your experience. Not sure why you thought it was an attack, but it wasn’t intended that way.

Many, many touring pros trust the FM9.

Bugs can happen as can hardware issues.

Is it happening only since this firmware or before?

You're not by chance blocking the bottom vent holes?

Attach a preset that it occurs with.

FWIW I just had FS5 completely stop responding after the unit was on for approx. 4 hours. CPU utilization is 26.3% (I'm on a bare bones test preset), so nowhere near even breathing heavily. Non-responsive in all layouts, and no change if I switch presets.

The only actions I took between when I last knew it was working and now were switching scenes & assigning a scene controller modifier to one of my blocks in FM9-Edit.

(came back normally after a power cycle)

I have had several communication time-outs/crashes/freezes this week. Far more than in previous firmwares. It has mainly happened when I tried to save presets (on the edit screen or in preset manager), or when rearranging presets in preset manager. Always when using FM9-Edit, not on the unit itself (which I basically never tough for programming).

What OS are you on?

I would like to agree, I have used my FM9 for a number of years, 4-6 hrs per gig without issue... I would suggest you provide the preset... note % of CPU that is in use...

Just updated. The unit works , but now FM9 Edit seems to be taking forever to re-read all the block definitions snd I cannot edit my setlist for tomorrow’s rehearsal. After 10 mins still on slot 73 of Factory 1 cab names, looks like it will take all night. What might be the problem here, any ideas? I did download the latest FM9 Edit , on MacOS Tahoe

Mine worked normal, maybe exit out and restart?
