Am I correct in understanding a volume pedal would use one of the 4 blocks?

If so, is there a way to attach the expression pedal as a modifier to a parameter in the amp, delay, or reverb blocks to get basic volume swells?
 
I think I know the answer but wanted to check, does this have the same preamp boost and saturation options in the amp block as FM9/AM4?

Because that's what I'm using more and more for drive and would help me work around the 4 block limit.

Input Volume
Output Volume
Amp_Block_Out_Volume		These individual parameters allow you to globally control the input or output levels of the AM4.
Use these for convenient global Volume without needing to “waste” one of the effects on a Volume block.
The Amp Block Out Volume feature is unique to the AM4. Use it to adjust the output volume of the amp without the need for an additional Volume block between the amp any time-based effects. Because this volume is scaled at the output, it does not affect amp gain or tone.

So somebody to tell me if amp block in AM4 and AF3 share same oversampling level or « only » FM3 or FM9?
In my own experience :
FM3 is x4
FM9 is x8
AF3 is x8 to x16 for some amps
 
Count me in. Was expecting something like this, so I sold off all my Fractal gear save the VP4. I have the following use cases:

AM4 alone (band practice)
AM4 + VP4 (gigs)
VP4 alone (add some fx to the gigs where I just bring an acoustic and a vocal mic)
VP4 with 4cm (mostly just to use with tube amps at home)
and perhaps... using the AM4 in front of an amp for wah, comp, and drives - with the VP4 in the FX loop.

I know an FM9 can do all this, but I'm much much happier with having the FX in a separate built for purpose box like the VP4.
 
I thought earlier today that I might look at an AM4 for home use and keep the FM3 in the band rig, but I realised the lack of headphone amp would be a big issue for me. Might have to look into a second FM3!
 
Well.. yesterday I was bit upset with going with the FM3 and the AM4 drops in. Today, thinking clearly, I think I still made the best choice and these are two different beasts... the FM3 has more flexibility and effects and, for my purpose, is what I need actually thinking clearly.

Might look into the AM4 in the future for backup - although, in Europe, is almost a 1000 EUR unit, so not exactly "cheap".

Congrats on the new product FAS!!!

Question to @FractalAudio or @Admin M@ : do you reckon it's possible, with a firmware update, to bring the "easy mode" and "expert mode" into the interface of the other units? Or are they so radically different that it wouldn't be possible? Also - is AM4 next-gen "ready" (meaning whenever a new amp modelling arrives, it will feature it?). Thanks in advance!

AM4's SPDIF OUT goes into VP4's SPDIF IN.
The VP4 would then connect to FOH through its analog output(s), or SPDIF OUT.
 
Does the speaker impedance curve behaves similarly to FM3/FM9 etc?
Do we have the same SIC curves etc?

This is going to suit my needs.

Why should it be explained to you? Why not just read the manual and see the differences? It’s pretty clear what they are.

Just touch grass and play guitar. If there’s other solutions out there that work better for you then use those. Your dollar is your vote.

It seems odd that this free boost is only 4db.

Is this in addition to the input boost in the amp block, which has much greater range on the other devices?

4db would make sense as a switchable volume boost for solos. Is that what this is?

It's an output boost, for solos indeed.

4dB is a fine ceiling. If any band member would bump his/hers volume level when soloing with more than 4 dB, I'd go for a kill.
