Axe-Fx III Firmware 31.00 Release

Can I set the Metronome on/off via a hold function on one of the 6 footswitches on my FC-6? I can't figure out how.

FC switch function for it doesn't exist yet. Hopefully that's in the works.

In the mean time you can use a MIDI loop back cable between the MIDI IN and OUT ports and then use CS MIDI to control it with a Control Switch.

OK, stupid question I am sure but where is the Suhr Reactive Load Speaker Impedance Curve and how does one use it?
Speaker impedance affects how an amp responds. Speaker impedance curves tell the Fractal Amp block what kind of speaker to respond to.

You select the speaker impedance curve in the Amp block, under the — wait for it — Speaker page. :)

Yeah I never used anything like that before either but would be nice to see some information about it and how one would apply it in fractal land and why etc. Just would like to know so when it comes down the line to FM9 :D
One cool way to utilize the Suhr Reactive Load SIC or the Fractal Load SIC would be in a way to simulate that you have real tube amps in your setup and use them with a reactive load box.

I used to have 4 different amps hooked up to an amp switcher that allowed me to toggle any amp at will and choose any speaker at will. While I didn't use real cabs with it, I actually used a Suhr Reactive Load IR box with it. I would bypass the IRs of it and then used an IR loader in my DAW to switch between IRs. Every amp that got used would have the impedance curve of the Suhr Reactive load though. This is a cool way to simulate that setup, and it reminds me a lot of when I was actually using my real amps with the Suhr Reactive load box. I don't know if that helps or not. :)

This firmware is really great!!! The low end feels amazing! It's bouncy but not bloated!

One thing I noticed is that the Alignment tab in the cab block got switched to milliseconds in delay time whereas the distance in the dynacab portion is still in centimeters. What was the reasoning behind that?

Explained in the first post of the thread.

I haven't loaded the firmware yet... Are Control Switches (not CS Midi) not an option?

Auto Align default is OFF after Reset Current Channel & selecting Dyna-Cab. Is it supposed to be ON after reset if the prior operation was on?
FW31.00 release notes, "NOTE: Existing presets will have Auto Align set to ON as this was the prior behavior." Thanks in advance!
If it's supposed to be off, I'd certainly enjoy learning about why or why not. Thanks in advance FAS Team! GOAT!
Are you on the latest editor?

The new metronome switch is not modifier assignable yet. You could add it to the perform pages, but it's probably just as easy to hit the tempo button once and turn it on/off there. The MIDI/Remote menu is the only way to remotely control it so far.

Ok... Lots of stuff in the MIDI/Remote menu have other controllers after the CCs...

Testing out the firmware with Auto Align off and a 512 trim length on the Dumble cab. I love these features that just remove a step of the tone setting process. Ever since DynaCabs were introduced a couple years ago, I've done a lot on the Align tab while picking mic placement, but I don't even need to touch it any more. Don't get me wrong; the Align parameter is a more powerful way to set the phase relationship between mics, allowing you way more flexibility, offering settings that don't exist in the real world, and it's great to have that option, but I am perpetually making up for not having owned any of this equipment before buying the Axe-FX III, so I'm often craving to mimic the real world experience, and only modding a few things to be unreal, so to speak (like trimming IRs and removing ghost notes). Being able to hear the tone change so drastically when moving mics around, the way they do in the real world, is...well, just freaking incredible. If you feel like messing around with this preset, just play a loop and move that second mic around to see how drastically the tone changes, then maybe turn on Auto Align and compare. It's really interesting. I was surprised in my experimenting tonight that I found myself using the front panel to move mics because the sweet spot for that second mic can be such a tiny area.

The new firmware is amazing, thanks, Fractal team!

The auto-alignment toggle was a huge surprise for me. I never mixed two microphones on a cab, so I didn't experience phase alignment in the real world, but I assumed it would sound better or worse based on the distance and given phasing situation. For some reason, the auto-alignment off consistently provides a more balanced tone, as if it filters some annoying high-end frequencies and smooths the tones in a very pleasant way.
