+1 - pretty disgusting compared to the hey days of my concert going when I saw all kinds of headliners for a small inflation adjusted fraction of today's prices. I don't know if its greed from ticket sellers, promoters, venues, artists, ... , or all of the above, but the reported avg 1k$ Cdn ticket price is more than enough to bum me out on even a 2/3s+ Rush reformation. I'll satisfy myself with fond memories from 70s era Rush shows I attended, and wish Alex / Geddy well on their last hurrahs.

Sadly, arena rock shows don't seem sensibly accessible to regular folks any more.

It's like health care in the US. So many organizations have their hands in the till, each one trying to maximize their take. Health care costs — and ticket prices — are inflated to finance these organizations' record profits.

Yeah, a grand+ just to sit where you can see the band is just stupid IMHO. so 2k if you bring a buddy... uh no.

Dead and Company played in San Francisco in the summer. 3 shows, great warm up acts. Almost all ‘seats’ were an open field, no chairs allowed and no chair rentals, and over $2000 for tickets. We had reserved a place to stay. Cancelled it. Total money grab and I’m pretty sure Jerry would have agreed.

My Friday night ticket to that was $225. A three night pass was $665.

That was always the price for GA tickets right from the very outset through to the last batch they released the week of the show. Maybe you were looking at reserved seating/VIP tickets?

Maybe that was it. Anyhow my back can’t hang with too much standing anymore. I did want to see Billy Strings. Dead and Co I’ve seen many times. I hope Mayer and the rest of the younger guys keep going in some fashion when Bob and Mickey give it up. Anyhow my apologies for the derail. Carry on….

I wonder how many of these old retired bands who decide to tour again, once they get on the road say to themselves "what the hell was I thinking?". I see they're only doing12 shows though.
 
If there's going to be big lighting / video rigs etc and only 12 shows, then a chunk of the absurd ticket prices may well be going toward that.
 
$800+ for a non-VIP ticket that are “okay”.
$200+ for a side ticket, 3rd level - behind the front of the stage - no thanks!

I’d have to drive 12 hours round trip to see them in Chicago.

I have seen them on every tour since 1982, twice on Vapor Trails and Time Machine tours. I cannot afford this tour. I will watch it on video a year later.

Same here. Since they're not coming close to Denver, I'll have to hope there's a video.
