The Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage '60s HSS Strat that I have with me at the moment is a killer. There's a dedicated demo of it on my channel if you're interested and I know that Leon has one or two for the same guitar as well.

I wanted to write an Axe-FX III/FM9 stage patch for it along the lines of something I'd use and then play the hell out of the guitar to see how resilient the tremolo is. Turns out it's VERY resilient (stays in tune) as I really gave it a hiding.

This is that patch.

Video playthrough (keep you eye on the Axe-Edit Scene changes).

Wow, great sounds and playing there. Are these 009 strings ? Wouldn't know how to get these "milky"cleans otherwise. Wow !will load that take for listening while driving. Backing track is yours ?
These strats seem to be 'indispensable' 😂

So nice......very Pink Floydesque! big grin.png

On a different note, I think I see a SPL 2Control on your desk.......I absolutely love mine......never noticed another til now!

Never been such a fan of the Rockman compressor, but I like it here. Because with the modulation going on, it is slightly reminiscent of Jan Akkerman's "out of phase" sound.

Is there an FM9 version of your patch? Sound great!
The preset appears to be sitting around 46%. It might run on the FM9 as is because of how the FM9 blocks are allocated to the CPUs. Then again, it might sit around 80%, but adjusting some of the CPU hungry parameters, or dropping an effect block, should allow it to fit within some breathing space.

I have the preset but haven’t had a chance to load it and look to see how it does, but will later today.

You can import it into your FM9 using Edit and see. If it doesn’t work you can overwrite the slot and be back to normal.

PS - I dropped the preset into FM9-Edit's preset name box, and it loads with the CPU % at ~57.4%, so it fits.

It WILL NOT sound exactly like @Burgs video because:
  1. The FM9 doesn't have the latest models that are in the FX3, yet.
  2. You don't have Burgs' fingers.
As soon as the FM9 gets its update the models should be equivalent to the FX3 and at that point the preset should sound the same. And, when Burgs releases the update for his fingers everything will be caught up.

Haha. Thanks! It's a long haul, I know. Could've sat there and rambled on for another 30 mins but the track ran out (mercifully!)
Oh ! No, I didn’t mean it was too long of a vid it’s just that I was so blown away so early in the vid that I had to comment.

10-46 on this one. Backing track is an oldie by Elevated Jam Tracks. Thanks for watching!

Yes, SPL 2Control. Absolutely essential in here. I love their stuff and would have much more of it if I could afford it.
That sounds incredible!
Thanks, Leon!

Yeah, it comes up well in the humbucking position (the direct comp-to-modulation thing). A little thin on the singles though, so I usually add a little PEQ to thicken it up if I have to go that route.

I'll get on that later today. Thanks.
I can really hear the nitro finish there 😂
Kiddin, thank you kind Sir.
😅🤙🏻

Thanks Greg. Hope you had a great weekend!

I meant to do this yesterday but didn't get to it…

Here's a FM3 version of the preset. When loaded into the FM3 from the FX3 original version, the CPU % went into overload. I looked at the Scene Mgr's block list and the PlexDly and Rotary blocks weren't used in any scenes and would give a large amount of CPU % back if removed, so I converted them to shunts. The result on a FM3 Mk2 Turbo is CPU % is mid-70%.

With my Xotic XSC-2 this preset sounds killer. It's definitely a Strat-rock sound. Scene 1 brings out the Led Zeppelin Dazed And Confused vibe.

Thanks Greg. I loaned my FM3 to the guys in Claymore a couple of months ago and haven't seen it since, so I'm out of that world until it surfaces again. Good idea shunting the redundant blocks, though. They're just a part of my usual template. Cheers!

I've got a couple more in the works here if anyone wants to give them a shot before I commit to Axe-Change. Both centred around the SLO100, one for single coil guitars, the other for HSS. Kitchen sinkers'. There's something about the Soldano midrange of that amp and (Dyna)Cab that really appeals to me.

Try the Drive block with the Clean Scene (especially singles). It's the Angry Charlie on default settings and I think it really sings with fluid lines.
