Axe-Fx III Firmware 28.01 Release

I've noticed some display anomalies in AxeEdit on the ratio knob. I haven't tried to track it down exactly, and I'm not at my Axe, but if i remember right, sometimes you can turn the knob, it moves below 4:1, then you do something else and it jumps up to 4:1.

Is anyone else seeing this?
For some of the new models, the minimum ratio is 4:1.

- Added “Plexi Brown” tone stack. This is the tone stack from EVH’s amp with a 50K mid pot.

How do I choose a tone stack... I do not see "Plexi Brown" in the list of amps after updating and refreshing.

Thanks!

Same here not a big deal but I refresh 3 times after every update just to be sure 👍

You are correct Sir Unix - in the AMP block go to the Preamp menu - button on left side then on right side settings 3/4 the way on right is Tonestack Type on the bottom - click there tons in there

  • The Attack and Release times are the “native” times of the detector. The actual Attack and Release times will be much shorter (about 5 times). The native range of Attack Time for an 1176 is 0.1 ms to 5.5 ms. The Release Time range is 59 ms to 1.1 s.
I may have missed it somewhere in the threads, so forgive me if I did, but can someone explain what this means, particularly that "The actual Attack and Release times will be much shorter (about 5 times)"?
Shorter because of the flexibility of Fractal, or shorter in real world uses on the actual real world 1176 unit? Does this mean that if I turn the knob on Attack to 0.100ms, it's not actually 0.1ms? And the Release knob all the way down to 2.00ms?

@FractalAudio is it possible to revert the power tube parameter changes somehow? Based on my perception, backed up by some comparison recordings, fw28.00 sounds more "juicy" / resonant compared to the more "drier" sounding 28.01.

For example Cameron Atomica and 5150 III Blue (100W) - but I also experience it with two different plexi variants, albeit to a lesser extent.
There were no changes to the power tubes in those two models. You're hearing things.

Even so, I will not change anything because the changes were based on measurements and it's all about accuracy.

If you prefer 28.00 you should use that.
If it's just a matter of my preference, that's fair enough.

However, something does seem to be different between the two versions. One can question how objective this assessment is and whether there is user error on my part but I thought that it might be worth bringing up as feedback, especially if you say there were no changes for these models.

On the unit, it's in Advanced tab PREAMP section. Plexi Brown is the last one in the list.
