It's called Sound Guy Syndrome. We know what we're hearing, even when it's not there. Is there a medical term for an audio placebo?
If not you need to coin one!

Okay, Fletcher Munson. I used it (I have it from Pete thorn in his preset) as a slight boost. It sounded great. It had a flat EQ curve.
Which ones are these?...I can turn down ratio/compression past 4:1 on all...?
Then you didn't read the Release Notes...
I've noticed some display anomalies in AxeEdit on the ratio knob. I haven't tried to track it down exactly, and I'm not at my Axe, but if i remember right, sometimes you can turn the knob, it moves below 4:1, then you do something else and it jumps up to 4:1.My bad...Both of those mentioned default to 2.0 on mine...until you turn them, then I see 4.0
Seems to be working fine hereI've noticed some display anomalies in AxeEdit on the ratio knob. I haven't tried to track it down exactly, and I'm not at my Axe, but if i remember right, sometimes you can turn the knob, it moves below 4:1, then you do something else and it jumps up to 4:1.
Is anyone else seeing this?
@FractalAudio for the Plexi Brown stack, do you mean to say that this tone stack comes from his actual Marshall?
Fair enough. I'm very excited to give it a shot. Thanks for clarifying! The only difference between a stock Marshall tonestack and the one in Eddie’s Marshall is the Mid-Pot was a 50,k Linear pot instead of a 25,k Linear pot ….
Yes, this thread is definitely not the right place... It has nothing to do with the firmware.Hey guys im running into an issue on my end with axe edit after a power outage. I posted but perhaps in the wrong place. Does anyone have any insight?

Yes. I can select some compressor models and ratio starts out below 4.0 on the computer screen. I can move it a round a little, but then it jumps to 4 and won't go lower. Definitely seems to be an Axe Edit anomaly, and once you understand that those models have a minimum ratio of 4, it's pretty easy to work with. I haven't looked at the Axe FX screen toi see if it's doing the same thing.I've noticed some display anomalies in AxeEdit on the ratio knob. Just out of curiosity - are those parameters exposed to the user?Tweaked some power tube parameters slightly.
Please excuse my ignorance, where do I find the plexi brown tonestock?
ThanksI don't see it also - maybe have to wait for Axe-edit update - I haven't looked on the unit itself which is usually where you can find it until Axe-edit is updated
Confirmed for me, too.^^^ Yes that, exactly.
Great write-up Moondog, thanks. So with the compressors and the minimum of 4:1 ratio, here is what I have found.
1. Per Cliff's note, some of the compressors do not go below a 4:1 ratio (JFET Studio Compressor and the Optical Compressor are two of them).
2. When you switch from another compressor that allows ratios below 4:1 and set to a value below 4, to a compressor that does not allow ratios below 4:1, it will still display that lower number until you try and make any change, at which point the numeric portion of the display in Axe Edit will jump to 4 and stay there unless you move it higher than 4. I would imagine that the number below 4 will be set to 4 for the axe considering the logic, even if it is temporarily displaying a number lower than 4.
3. The knob will still rotate below 4 on compressors that do NOT allow ratios below 4:1, and if you type in a value below 4, the numeric portion will revert to 4, but the knob will stay at the level you typed in.
4. Conclusion of this is, the knob is not 100% linked to the value in the numeric portion of the Axe Edit display considering it will allow a knob rotation resting position that is below 4, but will not allow a numeric value below 4 to persist.
I guess that way to end all confusion would be to ensure that the numeric values you can enter for the Compressors ratio be programmed so that it will not accept a number lower than the lowest ratio that particular compressor can be used at AND the knob should be programmed to always be in sync with the numeric value displayed.
a tip: try the analog one. especially if you miss the old Pedal 1 and 2 compressorsWhich ones do you recommend for more subtle compression?
