Thanks for this.

Bug: Gain reduction meter vanishes on some compressor models. Seems to happen only on VCA types.

Meter is there when calling up compressor, then vanishes as you switch between channels. Once gone you can only get it back by reloading the compressor type. No issues until you switch away (channel) and back.....then it's gone again. All other types are not effected by this seems like only VCA types. Tested all VCA types and they all do this.

Cheers

Crash Report: In addition to the situation above it seems that changing channels on the comp block using AXE
Edit can cause the unit to crash. I can fairly predictably crash the unit by doing this.

Cliff mentioned an issue in AxeEdit in the FW thread....not sure this is related but worth checking. Changing channels from AXE front panel has never resulted in this crash.

The crash freezes the unit with all active outputs pinned.....luckily with no actual audio at the outputs.

AXEFX III reboot clears everything.

Cheers

This issue isn't happening here. I wonder if you have a corrupt preset.

Anything more specific than just changing channels?

I've done a lot of the since the beta came out and have not experienced it.

Any particular types in the channels you're changing to our coming from?

Can you post a preset where this happens?

Here a reply to the comments above:

Method: for me it happens over a series of presets, not just one. The trigger seems to be when I quickly move between Comp block channels using the Mac kydb. Block is selected on grid and I use ABCD keys to switch, fast and on the fly to audition the channels. It is a heavy preset (75% to 80% CPU depending on what is selected) so maybe this is part of the problem.

Comps used are A Modern VCA, B JFET Studio, C Vari-Mu Tube, and D Optical.

The crash does not happen if I switch channels from the front panel.

Preset below.

Cheers

Not at my Axe so i can't see what's in that preset, but can you tweak things to get cpu down, and see if that helps? Maybe remove some blocks, lower reverb quality etc.

Even if it doesn't sound the same, the goal isn't to improve the preset, it's to troubleshoot. High cpu can cause all kinds of weirdness.

Simplified Preset: So I reduced CPU to 65% to 70% CPU and indeed the crash problem seems to have been solved by this. Will keep playing with it today to see if this observation sticks.

Seems like the previous version was randomly hitting a memory ceiling.

I do still get the vanishing Gain Reduction meters and level inconsistencies between Comp channels, but that seems to have been confirmed elsewhere as identified issues.

Reduced preset below for reference.

Cheers
