We now know that the VP4 doesn't have amp and cab modeling.

But... building on past contributions of Cliff and Cooper, there are bypasses.
Here's an Axe-Fx preset, consisting of 4 blocks (plus In/Out), no amp/cab. Created in 5 minutes. Can be improved a lot with further finetuning.

The exact preset/sounds should be be possible using just a VP4.

What amp are you using in the 2nd clip? Like the sparkly cleans.

No amp, that's the whole point.

I imagine this is partially positioned against say the H90 - which only does two blocks. Or like the Strymon big boxes that are basically 1 block.

Gosh, this guy is going to be really upset and disappointed at the >>$549.99 price tag the VP4 will be offered at. I'm thinking $799+ .. Close enough to the FM3's price point to be tempted, and yet a FM3+VP4 still doesn't give you FM9 capability at $1799....

If you look at the various offering from Strymon, Eventide, and others, a lot of people are willing to pay several hundred dollers per pedal for a single class of effects, but which only do one or two effects at a time. I used an H9 as one of two devices in my loop when I was still gigging, and was considering an H90. The VP4 seems like it would be a much better fit. I bet FAS sells tons of them.

Yeah, it's not a next gen FX8, but it also doesn't seem like that was the intention, and maybe that's not where the demand is.

Hell, a lot of people pay for UAFX pedals which are all exactly the same hardware with different firmware installed. It's like buying an Xbox with a single game preloaded and that's all you get.

You get an extra button? idk. Fractal posted on TGF (see above link) that we should not expect a low price, which makes me think it will be in the $700 price range. Mind as well get an FM3 with more versatile switches?

I'm still excited for the VP4, and will probably buy one, but with limited functionality you'd think the price would reflect that.
