Welcome
Thank you for choosing the VP4 “Virtual Pedalboard” multi-FX processor from Fractal Audio Systems. The VP4 offers up to four simultaneous effects with a user-friendly experience based on traditional pedalboards. It can be used between your guitar and amp or modeler for “Pre” effects, or with an amp’s modeler or FX loop for “Post” effects. There’s even a special global mode to enable “4CM” settings.
With hundreds of models from the award-winning Axe-Fx III, such as Drives, Delays, Reverbs, Modulation, Pitch, Plex, EQs, Compressors, Wah, Tremolo and more, the VP4 is a versatile new platform for any guitarist or musician looking to add great effects to their sound.
Unmatched Sound Quality: True to Fractal Audio’s reputation, the VP4 delivers pristine sound quality suitable for use on stage or in the studio.
Fractal-quality effects: The VP4 includes hundreds of different effects (435 at the time of writing!) based on those of the award-winning Axe-Fx III.
104 presets: Each preset is like a separate pedalboard with its own four effects, effectively allowing one VP4 to replace an entire collection of stompboxes.
Four footswitches: These allow classic ON/OFF switching, making using the VP4 as intuitive and easy as traditional pedals.
Expression pedals: Connect up to two expression pedals or switches for real-time control. The Fractal Audio EV-1 and EV-2 are perfect for use with the VP4.
Advanced options: While designed for simplicity, the VP4 also supports many of the most popular optional features from our flagship Axe-Fx III, including scenes, channels, modifiers, expert editing, and more.
Unity Gain Analog I/O with Analog Bypass: The 1/0 analog can be used in mono or stereo and features unity gain. Additionally, the unit features an optional analog bypass buffer, which completely removes all processing from the signal path. SPDIF Digital I/O, USB, MIDI I/O, and more: The VP4 also includes a host of additional I/O for added versatility.
VP4-Edit: This comprehensive software editor and librarian makes it easy to manage and customize your VP4. It’s free and can be found on our website.
Upgradable Firmware: The VP4 features upgradeable firmware, ensuring you always have access to the latest improvements and features.
The VP4 virtual pedalboard was designed for musicians—by musicians—to deliver great sound and versatility in an easy-to-use, compact, and reliable unit. We look forward to the music you create with the VP4, and thank you, as always, for choosing Fractal Audio Systems.

I welcome our new overlords.I suspect that it is a ChatGPT bot![]()
I welcome our new overlords.
Fractal effects (specially reverbs) have noticeable more quality than Eventide pedals. I bought the H9 and I was disappointed when doing A/B comparisons with the Axe-FX III. I cloned the algorithms at the AFX3, and I sold the H9Honestly I’m super interested. I love my amp and was thinking about buying an H90 to slim down my board, but this could possibly do all that and then some which would be amazing for gigs and sessions in one compact setup. I would like to hear how the effects compare to the Eventide as there won’t be a dealer I can check this out with, but I’m sure that video will be made lol. Looking forward to next week!
So, is all of this just a lure? Would be clever ^^VP = Vicious Prank

I think it's going to open up a whole new buyer group. People that don't care for amp sim, are using other amp sims and/or can't afford or are not willing to pay FM9 or Axe FX III prices. It’s an oddly positioned product, if you already have an Fx3 FM9, then it’s not really much use and as a straight multi fx pedal it’s sorely lacking…….VP8 anyone, I’ll pass and I’m a terrible Gear Hussy![]()
There are a lot of players out there who don't want to play a modeler, but still want to enjoy the Fractalaudio effects. For that, it's awesome. What also makes it a game changer compared to similar pedals are the digital in and outs. It’s an oddly positioned product, if you already have an Fx3 FM9, then it’s not really much use and as a straight multi fx pedal it’s sorely lacking…….VP8 anyone, I’ll pass and I’m a terrible Gear Hussy![]()
I think I said this before, but this is basically the product I've been asking Fractal to make for years. The only thing is the 4 block limit.... buuuuuttttt.... with spillover, gapless switching between channels and presets.... I can probably make it work fine. It’s an oddly positioned product, if you already have an Fx3 FM9, then it’s not really much use and as a straight multi fx pedal it’s sorely lacking…….VP8 anyone, I’ll pass and I’m a terrible Gear Hussy![]()
One might argue that you don't really need a compressor if you're engaging a drive block; you can edit you drive to give you the desired result. But I do understand what you're saying. Another way to get "always on" stuff is to get those pedals in the analogue realm in front or in the loop of the VP4. Not ideal, but not very inconvenient either if it is something that must remain "always on".I feel that 4 effects might be juuust a tad too limiting.
Especially when some effects are ate times kind of always on
I.e.: If you're playing something with reverb, delay and compressor you can't suddenly enable a drive and wah.
You'll have to switch presets and sacrifice something.
Doable I guess.
