Lots of things are going that way. Soon, American Standard will be having us subscribe to use a toilet, if things go out to their usual ridiculous extreme....
You could have an internet connected printer in your bathroom that prints failing guitar magazines onto your bogroll of choice.

Just beware that, the softer the tissue, the more ink it will use up - and the longer it takes for the ink to properly dry before... "use".

Or maybe you don't want to use ink here, at all, come to think of it. Laser? Heat transfer?

And you'll get prompted to add a 'tip' when you checkout...
don't get me started on tip prompts uggggh. concert venue while back. pays $12 for crap beer. they hand it to you. turns debit machine with minimum default tips set at 20%.

Somehow the timing of this new update plan from Kemper couldn't be worse. NDSP just released their Nano Cortex, a direct competitor to the Player but cheaper. Now Kemper is making their pedal even more expensive. Really weird - I would have expected this to be a free upgrade path to entice potential buyers in their direction rather than the competitors.

Then the situation must be really serious :( but FAS rules 🤘

Cineplex in Canada just lost (and is appealing) a $39 million dollar class action lawsuit for the deceptive marketing practice of "drip pricing" - drawing customers into a purchase without full disclosure of the final cost.

Not exactly the same thing, but still...

The end of Kemper is coming. Not enough money anymore.
Let’s face it Kemper was like a magician who has one main trick
And it lasted for a very very long time .
But the reality is once that trick was revealed and others started doing it there was going to be an issue

It’s very challenging for Kemper to survive when there strongest tech is available in sub $200 ToneX player
To add insult to injury all the other brands that have borrowed this trick have improved on it and added their own twist

I think when you saw the ToneX that was a big blow to the high end capture market

Don’t know, maybe he’s trying a last run.
The kemper tech is really old now, I think he made a lot of money with his units.
Same tech, same components for a lot of years.

It’s really clever and we can say that the tech he created has really been a game changer at the time.

Maybe he does not really care that much now.

But it’s in my opinion not a smart move at all, because t’s not even updates, he make you pay for a full capable product that you already bought.
