Please recommend a poweramp?

I'd like to try a poweramp with my FM3 into my 1x12 or 2x12 cabs. I'm sure people will recommend the Matrix, but I'd like to keep it at a lower price, since it would only be used occasionally. What can you recommend?

You can use just about anything in the power amp array of choice.
Anything from an example: electro harmonix pedal power (5mm, 15 watt howitzer) or similar to the expensive stuff that you’ve stated that you don’t have interest in. No problem.
Whatever you decide is fine you will have to determine if it’s pushing your cabs as you like.
I am back to a PS-2A fryette. No frfr. 2x12 Mesa recto cab.
Previously used: Seymour Duncan ps170 , orange pedal baby 100w , crowne xli800 and various tube amps in 4cm.
Good luck. Happy testing.

I´m happy with the Harley benton gpa-100. Sounds 95% the same comparing to the Seymour Duncan Power Stage (I spent a mounth with both).
Does the GPA-100 give you enough for a band with another guitarist? I watched a Jonathan Cordy video where he said he didn't think it was.

What made you go back to the Fryette? I do have a PS-100, but I was looking for a less cumbersome solution.

I have a SD powerstage170 that works well for me as a solo guitarist. If I was looking to keep a small footprint and have enough power to hang with another guitarist, I'd probably upgrade to the powerstage 200.

Another satisfied GPA-100 user here. In my opinion there is plenty of headroom in that little box to keep up with the drummer. I have the volume knob at around 12-2 o'clock and the FM3 output knob at noon - and I can easily hear myself in my 5 piece rockband (2 guitarists). So my experience is that there is noting to be afraid of.

What level do you have set on you FM3 output? +4 or -10?

Oh damn. I just noticed the GPA-100 only operates at 240V. I'm in the US. Plus, my cabs are 16ohm, so I'd most likely only get half of the power.

I’m pushing 2 v30’s
I like the tubes over Solid State
There’s something about it for me. I was always getting a “harshness “ with SS.
I can’t explain, I’m not very articulate at my age.
I’m looking for amp in the room. I don’t perform or record.
Just learning some 70’s stuff. I’m 62.
Either greenbacks or v30’s
I can get all the tones I’m seeking without frfr. My adhd goes berserk adding another layer to tone with IR’s. lol
So I guess it’s feel for me.
I ain’t wealthy or nothing but I am privileged. I’m a US Army DCV keeping an interest in life.
These modeling units are for the future but as a progressive boomer I will enjoy some of the fun also.
I very much like this community and to share an interest with others is an honor. Never forget to stop and smell the roses. Life is short. Thankfully we have Fractal!
Peace ✌️

Run away from Matrix, if I can ever find someone to repair my old matrix 800 poweramp, it will be for sale and out the door real quick. Redseven have some good poweramps that have support most parts of the world I think, Seymour Duncan do a few good ones, or you could go Fryette.

So are you looking for a pedal based power amp or will a rack mount work? Also can you define lower price?

Besides a Matrix GT1000 I own a Crown XLS 1002. I find it very good for the price. The only downside was that I had to make my own cable to use it in bridged mode. But there are instructions on how to wire it up.

I use the Fm3 with output level +4db and the volume on 10, then I adjust only the gpa100 volume. It is loud, but it also depends of the speaker impedance.

I'm too late to the party since you already decided on something, but do not underestimate the 20 dollar amazon 100W stereo power amps! Search for "DAMGOO Bluetooth Amplifier Board, 100W+100W" for example. It works very well and gets quite loud. The downside is that you need your own power brick and a 1/4inch speaker cable adapter.
