Actually I had the Axe Standard, Ultra, 2, 2XL and III, got the Helix Floor + Native and Stomp additional to the III and sold the III then (even with a ultra silent Noctua fan, the thing was so annoying in my studio because the fan doesn't have enough clearance in the rackhousing). Not happy with helix?![]()
Now I need more sophisticated programming with multiple parallel paths because we started to play more and more Dann Huff and Luke and Van Hagar stuff with the cover band. So big 80ies rack sound. I started to implement certain pedals in the FX Loop of the Helix but without quite some more external switching it wouldn't work and carrying even more gear is annoying. I also added the Native via USB but I HATE having a laptop on stage even tho it gives me limitless CPU basically because the latency of the plugin and usb doesn't matter on parallel Reverbs and Delays. We play without click on purpose to keep a different dynamic of the show and especially on certain Pink Floyd songs they change tempo up to 8bpm in solos or other parts. So having a laptop just as a soundprocessor on stage is still a no go for me and if something stops working my guitar sounds like a dry fart in the wind

So IF Fractal got the input dynamics (which is normally a hardware thing) figured out with the new software, I'll go with the FM9 because I still love the grid and freedom of placing blocks. Also the footswitch programming is so versatile. As a customer I'm honestly very happy about brand like L6 and Neural because the push the industry forward and therefore fractal also released cool new stuff.
Now I could only whish for a FM9 with III processor power
