  2. exp(a/2)−1=k*exp(a)−k
  3. exp(a/2)−k*exp(a)=1−k
  4. Let x = exp(a/2)
    1. So exp(a)=x^2
  5. x−kx^2=1−k
  6. kx^2−x+(k−1)=0
  7. Solve quadratic eq:
    1. x=(−(−1)±sqrt((−1)^2−4(k)(k−1)))/2k
    2. x=(1±sqrt(1-4k^2+4k))/2k
  8. x=exp(a/2) so
    1. exp(a/2)=(1±sqrt(1-4k^2+4k))/2k
    2. log(exp(a/2)=log((1±sqrt(1-4k^2+4k))/2k)
    3. a/2 = log((1±sqrt(1-4k^2+4k))/2k)
    4. a = 2*log((1±sqrt(1-4k^2+4k))/2k)
