Yellow circle on Axe-Edit knobs

super noob question I couldn’t find an answer for in various searches: what does the small yellow circle at the bottom of some knobs mean in Axe-Edit?
 
It's been a while, so I'm guessing it either means...
  • that parameter is connected to a modifier (something automated or a pedal)
  • that parameter is available to connect a modifier to
Someone will undoubtedly supply the definitive answer asap :)
 
If the circle is open in the middle, it means that the parameter can be attached to a modifier.

If the circle is solid in the middle, it means that the parameter already is attached to a modifier.
