Xitone still in business?

Every Fractal product I've purchased (back to Ultra days) they ask 'what product do you want Fractal to deliver' and I've always said FRFR speakers. I think I get why that never happened.
It did happen for a minute. FAS partnered with Atomic during the days of the Atomic FR tube-powered speakers. That connection apparently was dissolved ca. 2011.

I'll just chime in to say that my Xitone powered wedge with Matrix GM50 has held up really well over the year.

Better than my FM3. (Just got that back from support on the 21st, and it's already started freezing again...)

Any chance you have some presets that use too much CPU?

Maybe try backing up, then deleting all presets except the factory ones, see if it's more stable then.

That's an excellent suggestion. I was recently reading a thread about CPU usage. I'm going to try that. Thank you.

You could also have a corrupted preset, possibly even a factory one, so if it's still happening after deleting your custom presets, delete the factory ones too.

If that doesn't help, try resetting all settings.

I received what looks like my final email from the attorney general’s office. Not surprisingly Mick never responded to them. They said they can’t do anything further to resolve the situation and that if I want to keep pursuing this case that I should find an attorney and take this to small claims court.

I have a 1x12 powered wedge, I personally think it sounds great with the FM9. I've used it for gigging and band practice with no issues for about 4 years or so. One day the sound just cut out, no low end and the volume was barely audible. I took it to my local shop but the techs are having a hard time diagnosing the problem. Apparently the speaker is fine but there is an issue with the mother board and they are trying to order the correct chips. Since the Xitone site is down there is no tech support regarding the specs. I'm not sure what other options I have.

You could just have them replace the Dayton Audio PPA800DSP amplifier module. They'd have to figure out and program the crossover frequency, but it would be way less labor than replacing chips on the module.

This is actually exceptionally hard, it turns out. I went down this path looking to do this with mine. Dayton doesn't make it easy and the correction EQs can't be pulled from an existing amplifier.
I just downloaded the manual. I see there's more to it than i thought. Did you come up with something satisfactory?

This is why I prefer to use a separate amplifier. Also the quality of amps in powered cabs is pitiful unless you pay a lot. The track record for support for powered FRFR guitar speakers is awful across the manufacturers. You are better going down the Celestion F12x200 passive route and get a power amp and that’s another can or worms .
I say this all the time but Fractal needs its own fr fr to end this crap.

I agree with your assessment. The best long term solution currently is to get a passive speaker and a separate amp. It is more stuff to setup but you can buy a quality amplifier and the FRFR is a lot less likely to become a doorstop if the amplifier fails.

I would 100% buy a FAS designed FRFR, but I doubt it will ever be made. I recall reading a statement from Cliff indicating that they don't have interest in making this type of product because it is very low margin and the market is already crowded. They currently partner with Red Sound. Hopefully those will have better longevity and product support than the other previously popular brands (Atomic and Xitone).

Nope. Mine has no corrections now and I have an EQ curve on my FM9 I apply. Mostly I’ve stopped using it as a result.

Would you put those Celestions in a 1x12 or 2x12? And, either way, any suggestions on good quality empty speaker cabinets? This is what I am working on now. Trying to assemble a good passive 2x12 speaker cabinet combined with a good quality power amp, preferably tube not solid state.

If you're handy with such things, you can build the cabinet they spec for a lot less than you can buy one.

There's a thread with some info.

I will read that thread. I have been looking into what you say recently and the only issues I have so far are the cost of the tools needed to build the cabinet. I am not particularly handy, but not afraid to give it a go. I did this with Warmoth builds with moderate success. Of course I also need to know more about connecting the boards. Seems to me dovetail is best, finger joint next, then butting them together and attaching with screws. I don't know if I have the ability to do dovetail, and it looks like to create the joints you need special tools.

The power amp went out in my Xitone wedge last year. I boxed it up and it's been stored out in the shed since. I've been tempted to toss it in a bon fire just to get one more bit of enjoyment out of it.

Is it the Dayton power amp? They sell replacements at multiple online stores.
