Would you say the next-gen Axe is years away?

I know there’s been confirmation the next-gen will have NAM tech, but do you think the next flagship product is actually years away? It took L6 a little over 10 years to release the next version of Helix, and we’re pushing 10 years for the Axe III.

What is the point of these speculatory posts?
The OP is probably thinking about buying. With most consumer electronics, it can be worth checking if a shiny new model is right around the corner.

If, hypothetically, it was right around the corner, these aren’t like Apple products that ship the week after the announcement. Someone help me out here, but I believe it took a while to get through the waitlist, then it was another year or two for the FC to be available.

I would think of it as minimum 1 year if it was “right around the corner,” but probably longer. At a certain point, with any electronic device, you’ve gotta think about the time you could be enjoying what is already here vs waiting for the next thing.

Also, last time around, prices for a used Axe FX II held up a lot better than I expected. You should be able to recoup a good chunk of your investment in the III if the IV comes out.

How I think about it..

Only the man himself, FractalAudio knows

We can speculate to no end on the what, when, why, where’s etc and we can’t in no way control when it’s released or when you’ll be able to purchase through the wishlist.

But what I can control is how much I can save up for it so I can possibly* afford it and use that waiting time to enjoy what I have.

(Even then that’s my speculation of the possible price)

Where did you see the confirmation of NAM tech?

From cliff a few weeks ago, I don't remember which thread

I found it.

Pretty cool tidbit and an excellent endorsement of NAM 🤘

I have a Valeton GP5 that supports NAM for headphone practice at work lol

(For those that haven’t checked it out, the new Tone3000 website where all the NAM files are hosted had a very cool update where you can hear the tones with different playing styles and Cab IRs before downloading them)
