Hello

I need some help please .

My clean tone is very "thin" , without "body".
I use double verb patch with cab F137: double verb M160(UR)

I tested others cab, but there is so much that I lose myself there

I use IEM Earsonics , and tom anderson guitar ; on Axe FX XL

Most of my presets are "without body"

What are your secrets ??

Is there any importance with output in front ?

Before , i played on marshall , mesa boogie road king etc .... without problems

sorry for my english , i'm french

Please heeeeeeelp !!! :-(

i would not compare frfr to real amp. and plus not headphones/IEM to amp in the room sound. when u go with frfr/IRs you should more think about in the mix sound or your tone what comes out of the PA, which is smth really different than what you hear from your amp/traditional cab...

and its a process, needs time to understand it, to get used to it...its not a must but the more you record, more you are in studio situations where you hear your tone isolated from studio monitors and not your guitar cab, more you would understand it....

maybe you know all these and you are looking for a different advice, just my thoughts and hope it will help.

I use F092: 212 Pro Verb Mix
and it sounds great in fw18.03 (it sounded great before the new firmware as well) .. :)

I use dimarzio Mo Joe in the neck position ..

through my KRK 5 FR/FR and axe fx II

Cabs 123 and 137 are two nice UltraRes "Twin Reverb" cabinets.

IMHO the Double Verb does sound a little thin by nature.
If you need more body, switch to another Fender-based amp model. There are many.

If you feel lost, start like this:

- Make sure all the system settings are at default: in the Utility menu execute "Reset system params".
- Empty a preset and add just an Amp block and Cab block. Make sure they are defaulted.
- Select a simple amp model such as the AC-20 DLX Treble. Keep it default.
- Select cab 135 (AC-20 DLX).

This should get you a very usable tone. If not, something's wrong and let us know.

Just a couple of suggestions... a Mesa amp model might be a better place to start as it sounds a bit 'thicker' out of the box compared to the double verb / twin? If you have a real cab that you already own / like, then Spending some time Making your own Tone Match might get you closer to what you want than a standard Fractal / aftermarket cab... I don't know how much you know already but you could try a low-end cut along with easing back on the 'bright' or even the treble EQ to help fatten up a tone... reducing or increasing input gain, input drive and power amp level can make a difference too.. A hint of compression might help, etc...

...Ah I see Yek got there first ith some of this :encouragement:

From the UltraRes Samples folder that comes with the firmware downloads, try the OH_212_BOG-SH_FN-42_Studio-Modern cab. I've had almost no issues trying to dial it in with that IR.

I had the same difficulty finding the right cab for the twin. Used other Fender amps for the longest time until I came across a truly great cab for the twin in cab pack 3. If you have it, try the OH 2x12 BOG J12 CN live-vintage mix. If you don't, get it! Keeps everything you like about the twin and adds just enuff meat with a lil mid honk too

2x12 Class-A Tom's Mix Right.syx from the UltraRes Samples folder is a really great IR for the Fender amps.

I have the Cab Pack that came from and use the "Left" version of the same IR in a stereo cab with the free Right IR. Killer setup. Big full stage tone without a lot of fuss.

But try the Concert 6G12, Ac-20 Dlx Bass, Prince Tone, Deluxe Verb (in that order) instead of the Twin. The Fender "G" circuits are amazing for big full cleans and take drive pedals really sweet. Combined with the above IR is killer.

Hello ,
thank you very much with all for your answers ;-)

Semih Yanyali , i agree with you . It was diffucult at first , but i think i understand .

Yek , I benefit from it to thank you for the sharing for your work

I will test all your solutions .

I know that the twin is a little thin , but from there not to have a whole the bottom of the spectrum, that becomes a problem .

This is my preset , (XL version)
Someone could try it ?

a low-end cut to help with a thin tone? am I missing something here?

Cutting crap from above & below can leave you with more mids / thickness and deliver a more focused tone / cleaner palette for fattening up with EQ... Certain comps (Boss CE2 for example) can help add body and work well with Fendery tones IMHO (though others including some MXRs can achieve the opposite)... YMMV of course...

hello yek ,
i just try AC-20 DLX Treble with cab 135 (AC-20 DLX) .
It is unusable in clean tone . It is crunch tone (also with input drive at 1 and master volume at 1)
At your home , it is a clean tone ?

Thanks for your help

Interesting. Another user had a similar issue with the Bassman models. For him the problem was in the IO menu the INPUT 1 MODE was set to SUM L+R instead of left only. If that doesn't work I would suggest you try re-installing the firmware and see if it makes a difference.

As far as Fender IR's I really still have a lot of love for the IR "TAF_Fen_MIX_ROOM.syx" included in the ultrares sample folder with the firmware download. Just use manage cabs in axe edit and drag and drop it to your user ir's and then save. I really like how it works with practically any Fender amp to give it what I associate with a Fender sound.
