To change guitars, set the tuner to mute the input when it’s running. Then engage the tuner, swap your guitars, and then quit the tuner.

I do this, plus I use a silent plug.
No pops or phhhhts from the rig
Though I might let out a few myself depending on my dinner

+1 for the Silent Plug. Pop and plug all day with no worries.

As for dinner, mine was deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts, so... duck!
