What are Fractal's plans for the unused USB port?

I thought I had read here that they're looking into having it supply power in a future update? Did they ever explicitly confirm that?

Cliff confirmed that it could provide power in the future, but I don't believe there has been any confirmation of specific plans for the port. One could also imagine it could be used to attach a thumb drive that contains presets.

3. Plug in a Bluetooth dongle and edit wirelessly via "FM3 Edit for iOS"
4. Plug in a USB Mouse for point and click navigation on the screen

6. Connect the USB port to your smart TV and view the FM3 screen in 4K UHD
7. ....?

Hm....in hindsight, while I was completely joking, I don't actually hate any of those ideas (with the possible exception of #6) lol

Yes... Which currently exists for PC and Mac, both of which support WiFi and Bluetooth wireless.

The editors exist. They don't do wireless... Yet.

My point was that you're extrapolating wireless to equal iOS. Wireless would be instead of wired (USB).

It would be nice to have an iOS editor, though.

Axe 3 does not have a usb host port, only usb B port which is a slave device port, which usually connects to computer.

Crap!! I meant to say FC-6/12 not Axe 3. Brain wasn't engaged. I'm currently on the fence between the 6 & 12 so was thinking I could add 2 foot switches to the 6 and get everything I'm looking for. BUT, I would need to power 3 LED's and was hoping the USB port on the 6 currently has power to it that I could use for that purpose.

Just throwing this out there...

I'd still kill for an official 1U row of real-amp-feeling knobs I could map to block parameters like the FxUnits RAC12 could do.


Seems like the USB port would be perfect for that!
