Whammy problems

On both Whammy and Whammy AD in the pitch blocks, I couldn't get a monotonal output like you would with DigiTech's Whammy pedal. Are there supposed to be two separate guitar tones when using Whammy / Whammy AD, one being affected by the effect and the other being the original tone underneath?
 
Thank you. I know what I was doing wrong: I had two amps in the chain and one of them didn't go through the effect.
