UPDATES, IMPROVEMENTS, FIXES​

  • The VP4 is now in sync with Axe-Fx firmware 31.03.
  • Improved pitch shifting in Pitch block. The Pitch Tracking parameter is now limited to NOTES and CHORDS (OFF is no longer supported). The Tracking Adjust parameter has been removed as it is no longer relevant.
  • Increased range of High Cut control in Pitch block. The High Cut can now be reduced to as low as 200 Hz. Note that saved VP4-Edit block library files will need to be manually updated and re-saved.
  • Added Triggering to Pitch Block > Arpeggiator (Expert Edit). When Trigger Thresh is set to any setting except “OFF”, the arpeggiator triggers when the input level exceeds this level. To use this as a triggered phrase sequencer, set Repeats to 1 and Mix to 100%. Also changed behavior of Arpeggiator so that when the sequence is finished it resets to the first step (rather than stopping at the last step).
  • Improved Envelope Follower in Megatap, Multitap and Plex blocks.
  • Improved Dwell in spring reverb types.
  • Improved Auto-Swell type in Volume block. It now adapts to your playing level for smoother, more consistent swells. The expert Hysteresis control determines how much the short-term level must drop below the average level to reset the gate. Threshold determines the level below which the gate is closed.
  • New “USB 3/4 Record Source” option – Allows USB channels 3/4 to be set to NONE so the input DI signal is not sent to the computer. This option is provided specifically for use with software such as OBS and other streaming or recording applications that cannot select individual USB inputs and instead listen to all available USB channels, which could otherwise result in the DI signal being unintentionally blended with the processed VP4 output.
  • Fixed an issue caused by certain diode settings in the Drive block.
  • Very long preset names no longer cause a problem for the preset picker page.
  • VP4 is now supported in Cab-Lab version 1.01.01 or newer.
  • Various other fixes and improvements.

This has to be the biggest VP4 update yet. It brings in the yummy stuff from the latest Axe-Fx update.

Talk about the complete Fractal experience; I ordered a VP4 on Monday, received it today, it immediately knocked 2 pedals off my pedalboard that I spent months selecting and there’s already an update for it. Good times.

Do you think we can hope for the same new options for external switches mentioned in the AM4 forum also making their way to the VP4?

Thank you for FW 4.01! The VP4 has such a great product life cycle being updated once again. No other brand does this like Fractal.
