Virtual capo performance in FW 10.0

I thought I read somewhere on here to turn off the noise gate and that will help the latency and tracking of the virtual capo to work better. Is there any truth to this?

I probably won't have time to update until the end of the year but yes it does sound like Fractal has updated the Pitch Block. Which is great!

I saw all that, but back to my question. Does shutting off the noise gate help shorten the latency and help the virtual capo to track faster?

Yes, in my tests the higher the threshold, the more latency you have.

EDIT: Sorry, I made a mistake in my tests. I repeated them, and it does not add latency.

Interesting. I need to try the virtual capo with the noise gate off. I've never tried that yet. My gate is always on. I'm hoping that helps it track a little faster and maybe give less warble. maybe.

The latency mentioned is overall latency, not from the Pitch block... Unless possibly you have set the Detector Source to Block In.

Subjectively my impression is Block In causing less latency than Input 1 (running FW 10). I‘m using it for bass, so I‘m sensitive to latency and obviously using Notes mode, dialing down the tracking adjust as much as possible.

Did you turn the Input block Gate off?

How did you measure the latency?
The input gate can soften the attack of notes as it opens, making those notes feel "slower", but there shouldn't be any added signal latency.
Unless you turn up Lookahead (is it a parameter in the Input Gate? Don’t remember)
