USB Audio not working after FW update

So; i have done the latest firmware update (V29.0) on my AXFXIII (and updated the USB driver for my windows laptop) and i no longer have USB Audio from my laptop audio. I have changed the usb cable, done the system setting USB power management setting “don’t allow” for the USB hub and get this, even tried using my MacBook and there is no longer any USB Audio…

I have tried using both outputs 1 and 2 as well as changing the USB Audio mapping in the AXEFX setting

So the problem is there after the update, with new cables (of different types) and the original cable, and different computers with different operating systems… no USB Audio. It seems to be the AXEFX…

Any idea suggestions???

I'm having a few audio problems from laptop to Axe to speakers since recent firmware updates. Not quite as bad as that. One time I had to pull the USB out of the laptop and reinsert.

  • Power off the Axe Fx
  • Uninstall the USB Audio driver
  • Reboot the computer
  • Download the driver again
  • Install the driver
  • Power on the Axe Fx
Also, check the USB Levels in the global setup menu. Possibly they somehow got turned down.

Thanks all for the input on this… i got the USB working (sort of).

Just to share, I have done the following:
  1. On the Windows laptop, I have disabled the “allow windows to turn off” power saving functions for the USB hosts controller
  2. Reinstalled the USB Audio Driver in Windows
  3. Made sure the AXEFX was running the latest USB driver (5.74) - it is.
  4. Made sure that the USB levels were not turned down
  5. I shifted (remapped) USB 1&2 from output 1 to 2 and back (note that i have monitors set on BOTH outputs 1 and 2. Desk monitors on output 1 and an FRFR monitor on output 2.
Also remember that the problem was there with my MacBook too…(well it’s actually my wife’s, but you get the point). Also the fact that everything was 100% until the latest firmware (note i do know that the USB processor is seperate to the main AXEFX, unhappy coincidence)

The Mac works now. I have NO idea why cause everything above (related to the computer not the AXEFX) is windows based.

The PC laptop works, unless it goes to sleep and then it stops working again. This perplexes me, as i have disabled windows turning off the USB host. I can get it to work by shutting down the AXEFX and the laptop and rebooting, so i have disabled the sleep function on the PC, but this doesn’t explain why it was working 100% (and has literally for years), but now after the FW update it is sketchy.

Anyway, obviously I will keep an eye on things and I am also now contemplating going back to a Mac setup…

Same problem here. Just tried to get audio over USB for the first time (formerly FM3 worked flawless) and no way to get USB audio to the headphones. Tried everything, reinstalled the drivers, was driving me crazy.
Finally reinitialized the AXE FX3....and worked right away. Guess it is something with Windows time out/sleep mode.

Try this:

USB selective suspend is a power management feature in operating systems like Windows that puts individual USB ports and their connected devices into a low-power state when not in use, conserving battery life and reducing power consumption. While effective for power saving, this feature can sometimes cause peripheral devices to become unresponsive after a period of inactivity. You can manage this setting in Windows through the Power Options control panel to disable it, which can resolve issues with devices not reconnecting after being idle.
