Tube Drive?

Very interesting that you mentioned that Arion Chorus. I used to have one and it was one of my favorite chorus effects I have ever owned.

I never sold mine. It's one of the few pedals I kept.

I hung onto mine until about 2 years ago. I hadn't used it in probably 10 years. Sold it for $100 with missing knob and broken battery cover. The thing was sold within hours of posting on the bay (and yes, I fully disclosed the condition). Must admit as cheaply built as it was, it sounded very good. The AxeFx made it completely un-needed for me though, and the 100 smackers went to a much needed midi board :-)

The model in the Axe-Fx is based on the 3-knob version. The 3-knob version sounds very different than the 4-knob version.

I was reading this thread with interest, saw this and was blown away once again. I have never owned a product where the creator paid so much direct and continuous attention to his clientele, and showed such unwavering diligence to improving the product on a daily basis. Incredible focus, love and integrity.

Thanks again and again and again.

So what you all think of the FW12 new Butler 4 knob model in the drive block?

I think it sounds great although it doesn't sound like the real Butler 4 knob pedal I used to own. Hard to tell exactly what is missing. But liking it anyway. It is a very useful and nice drive.

I just finished comparing it to my 4 knob version. It is pretty darn close. You have to mess with both the tone and the bass, mid, treble to get the eq right but it isn't difficult to find matching settings.

I always had the treble and bass knob on my real Tube driver almost completely dialed to the left (so almost off). Then adding only a little bit of drive. Just like Eric Johnson is doing.
Not sure how to get this sound from the Axe Tube driver 4 knob emulation. Since there are so many parameters to consider. Not sure if I have to use the 'bass' or 'low cut' parameters on the drive block to emulate the real bass knob on the TD. Same goes for 'tone' and 'treble' or 'high cut' parameters.

Yes I have tried that. But I can not find the sweet spots of the real Tube Driver knobs. Setting bass and treble to 0 as I did on the TD doesn't work on the Axe.
What Butler settings are you using in the Axe fx Java?

Turn the Bass and Treble, to the far left. Turn mids down to ~9:00. Fine tune the bass cut by turning the tone up.

The drive does not scale exactly so turn to taste.

Yes tried that also. But the treble and bass parameters don't scale up to the real Butler knobs either. Setting treble all the way to the left sounds very muffled. I have to compensate that with dialing the tone knob fully to the right.
Do you maybe have an effect block for the Butler 4 knob to share? just so I get an idea how you emulate it since you also have the real Butler. Sold mine.

I've always used my drive pedals like this. Turn them almost off adding just enough to boost without changing the signature of the amp.

Correct me if I am wrong but with FW12 we can start to wean ourselves off of placing one or two drive pedals in series in our presets since we can now set gradients of amp drive input levels across 8 scenes! :encouragement:

Correct, you can have different input levels for each scene
