So most of you probably have seen and heard this vid before.

I was wondering... does the Axe FX Ultra come with those presets or are they shared?

Also, I like these patches as well.

So I was wondering... do these come stock in the Axe Ultra or part of the community shared patches?

Thanks,
Jamie

Well... No. Not stock.

The U2 vids are from a forum member, but he has not shared the presets to my knowledge. He does give some tips in the comments on his youtube videos. He uses real vox cabs but says he has gotten good results with cabsims. There is a number of U2 presets on axechange, but I don't know who made these and I'm not sure of how correct they are. There are a couple of U2 patches in the Axe's stock presets, but again, I'm not sure of the accuracy.

The duplications were made by forum member Voes, the settings are available on the wiki. They were made several revisions of the firmware ago, so they may need some tweaking.

trainwreck preset is explained in the liner note to the video.

Marinblues has also put some presets on axechange, but again, several firmware revisions have changed things a bit.

Also there are several things at play here to get similar results, like which guitars, playback system, room acoustics, which fingers are doing the playing... Exact duplication is not guaranteed, even with mostly similar equipment. But there's much to be discovered!

I too wish these awesome patches were shared...

Also, I wish there was some way for the forum to "start fresh" where people will re-upload patches, this time corrected to the recent firmware, but that is asking a lot. Also, some program that would auto-update them in the axe-exchange server would be asking a lot as well. Oh well.

You'd think if these patches are (what I'd call) in demand, that Fractal would create like the top 100 all time guitar tones and have them come stock in the Axe Fx!

Regarding your "Fresh Start"... why not something like this.

How about if we have a contest with patches and have a prize of some sort. Like, get 100 plus people writing their best patch and win cash or something. Or... perhaps those who participate reproduce a patch from a list of the 100 most sought after patches from the 50's through now.

I'd even buy some good patches from those who know how to really create them. Of course I haven't pulled the trigger on my Axe Fx (yet). But soon I hope! :D

Jamie

P.S. I love this guys stuff.

I prefer to create my own tones. The Axe-Fx isn't a Guitar Hero tool.

Download the Axe-Fx Editor (version 9). Open the Preset Manager. In the right pane click on the Axe-Change tab. Now click Load and wait a minute. Lots of paches will appear.

Me too! It's just nice to have a ton of stock ones to get you started. ;)

Maybe there already are and I don't know it (since I don't have mine yet).

I have the VG99. I use it for the modeling guitars and go direct into my daw using Waves GTR3 and other stuff. I was leaning on getting a Mesa Boogie Mark V but it would cost more that the Axe FX Ultra. So if the Axe can get like 99% plus the sound and feel of tube amps (or at least close enough to fool most people) then to me that's probable a smart way to go since I write and produce all styles of music.

I also thought about the Peavey Windsor Amp. There's one I can pick up here for $300. Maybe mic it and call it a day!

I would recommend checking out both Yahoo U2 Groups.

There are many AxeFx owners on both and you might find what you are looking for in their file sections.

Are these patches all stock patches that come with the Axe FX Ultra?

Jamie
Nope. Probably some, I think the FractalAudio ones are named like stock presets IIRC, but definitely not all. Pete Thorn put some on Axe-Change.

Is there a vid of a guy going through some of the stock patches anywhere? The VG-99 from Roland has some great videos where they go through the stock patches. Guitarworld as a review here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA_QtBXh9-4 but I think if Fractal did something with like a guy going through 40 or more patches would be the way to go.

Perhaps someone from the forum could throw one up on Youtube.

+1-Me too! although I do usually start with a preset and go from their.

Correct, but tweaking some Guitar heros tones permit to learn how to use correctly this tool.
So, charging a guitar hero tone's preset can help many of them to analyze its preset. ;)...

The guy on YouTube that did the U2 patches does not like to share? Unfortunately, some are like that, just want to say "look what I can do". Oh well, we must find a way to carry on.
