So there I was, churning out yet another overdrive video, when up comes a notice to say that the Axe-FX III has been granted yet another significant firmware update, FW 16.03, AND no less than 384 completely overhauled presets. Ulp. Is there any other company in the musical hardware world that provides such outstanding, prolific, progressive support and free updates? No, no there is not. Anyway, I noted a comment by one of the forum members who said that he can now pick up any guitar and try any of the new presets and they all sound amazing with any guitar he tried. That's a pretty big call, you know. And to me, a challenge of sorts. So I chose a preset that I'd never tried, "MF Euro" and picked one of the more 'fringe' guitars I have lying around here - a 2011 ESP Stef-T7 which is a beast of a thing; forged in the flames of Mordor by a couple of talented and jolly Japanese ESP Custom Shop luthiers. I call it my Flat Earth Tele. Ahem. Righto then, I've got the guitar, an unknown preset and now a little groove courtesy of Elevated Jam Tracks whose material I defer to from time to time. But before I begin, what the hell does "MF" stand for? I can see that the amp models are the Bogner Ecstasy, so they should deliver - but "MF"? I consult Yek's Wiki - "MF" stands for Marco Fanton, a handsome looking bloke from Italia who likes to contribute to the Fractal community more than most. So thank you, Marco! All the best to you. Of course, since writing and recording this video, yet another FW update has appeared - 16.04, with improvement to the Rotary engine among other things.
