With the XT1 you have to tonematch your own guitar, same as with the Axe-FX. I believe that both the Axe-FX tonematch and the XT-1 are exactly the same thing

Yes, you have the recording of both your guitar and the destination guitar, and you tonematch one against the other.

i.e.: you record the 36 notes ascending chromatic scale at both your source guitar and the destination guitar

e.g.: I have tonematched a guitar with P90 pickups as destination, and a strat with single coils as origin. Now I can play the strat with the sound of P90

As I've said, there is no fun in that because I already own these guitars. I swap them instead of using the tonematch. This would become interesting if other people started sharing their guitar imprints, so we could tonematch them against our source guitar
