Sort of — those 1’s n 0’s you mention are going down the pipe really really fast.
Clock instability “jitter” (sometimes an issue with lower-cost/quality digital gear) can lead to data errors in the bitstream — and the error correction this required can result in subtle audible artifacts, even though the transmit/receive “connection” works.

but not this one specifically.
