Sound cutting out

Yesterday I was showing off my FXII to my wife when I encountered a problem for the first time. After playing for several minutes and stomping liberally on my MFC101 to demonstrate the versatility of this magic box, the sound disappeared. My power amp indicated that the FXII output was zero and there was nothing in the headphones. The input LEDs indicated that a signal was indeed coming out of my guitar. I feel strongly that this is likely an operator error but it hasn't happened before so I am stumped. When I turned off the FXII and rebooted it everything was ok. It was sort of like I sent a "mute" command or a similar command to set the output volume to zero. I will have to play for a while tonight without the MFC101 to see if it happens again but for now, does anyone have any ideas about what I may be doing wrong?

Accidentally switched to a preset scene which is muted?
Accidentally pushed the Tuner switch (Tuner set to mute)?
 
Got a volume pedal attached or a custom preset with a volume modifier set to zero ??
