Sony MDR-7506 for playing with the Axe XL

Joe/Luke probably made a typo, he knows this stuff.

10dB is the perception of a doubling or halving. 3dB is a doubling of halving of the power.

If you turn down a volume control until you perceive a halving of the level, you've dropped 10dB. If your system is putting out 20W and you turn down the volume until it's putting out only 10W, your SPL only drops 3dB.

7506 are great for the price. I've been using them for quite a while. The only issue that I have is trying to use them at practice. We play in a small basement so we use a mixer to go direct to headphones to get rid of the feedback. The drummer leaks through them badly so I have to go to earbuds for band practice. Other than that, I think they're great for home use.

I haven't used them myself but the KRK KNS-6400 graphs really flat for $110 headphones. It's actually much flatter than their more expensive 8400 model. The Beyers are pretty neutral but they are hard to find where I live though.
